My day

Featured Replies

I just thought I would share one of my work shifts with you.

I got done with briefing and went upstairs to get in my vehicle for my shift. We had a mental health pickup order for a woman in my area. So, I went with another female officer to pick her up and bring her to the hospital. Well, we got there and were waiting for the doctor in the waiting room. All of a sudden, they said they had an out of control patient in the room area of the hospital. My partner, says she will go, if i will stay with our patient. About a minute later, my partners emergency button on her radio goes off. Another unit was on it's way to assist my partner. I couldn't wait, because we werent getting a response from her. I told the nurse that my subject was now her responsibility to watch. I ran through the door, and I saw my partner on top of this guy who was in his underwear. 2 more hospital security guys were helping her hold him down. We got him cuffed and dragged him onto the stretcher. We ended up tying him down with restraints. He was pretty pissed off, and spit at me and my partner. He missed of course. The nurse then came in and gave him a nice shot in the behind. :pAfter that he was quiet as a lamb. I then went and brought my subject into a room nearby so we could watch both of the subjects. My subject was then seen by the doctor and awaiting the psych evaluator to see if they were going to admit her. Meanwhile, wild man was brought to an upstairs room for the night. Security then left the area. I was standing there talking to my partner, when all of a sudden, a nurse says, security needs help outside by the parking garage. My partner and I start to go and then the nurse says never mind, they have her under control. At this time, our dispatcher says over the radio, that security needs help. I ask her to confirm and she does. So, the amazing duo, lol (us), run down the stairs and out of the building. We find security and the woman appears to be okay, but is refusing to go back into the hospital. ( The shift ahead of us had brought her in for a overdose on drugs). Well, we decide to sweet talk her into going back inside by telling her the psych evaluator is in the Emerency room. What I didn't tell her, was that once you are in a room on the upper floors, the psych evaluator can't go up there during night time hours. ;) :) Well, we got her back upstairs into critical care unit. She then said she wanted to see the doctor and the psych evaluator and wanted to leave. Well, we had to break the news to her. But, she was more concerned about missing school in the morning, so that is the only reason she didn't want to stay. She was getting ready to fight us, so we had the restraints ready. So I just said, (fast thinking) how about the doctor gives you an excuse in the morning for school. Well, that settled her down, and made her happy. :D

I found out later that the patient that my partner was subduing, kicked the security in the privates and head butted him. My partner even told me she puched him in the privates!  Never fear, it had no effect. :D She said that he was just kicking and twisting and she was hoping to slow him down. Too bad, cuz I would have pepper sprayed him. :D As we were restraining this guy, we heard the cop that was responding to help us, call out that he was involved in a Motor vehicle accident. What happened was, when my partners emergency button went off, the cop responding shut off his siren, but left his lights on, so he could respond on the radio. Well, a lady creamed him in the patrol car. Neither were hurt, but the lady was driving a 2006 Hyundai, and it's totaled. Our patrol car was just damaged on the front fender area.

Just thought I would share my night with you guys. The worst part was going back to the station and doing all the paper work.

You know what, I got up this morning and feel great! I know I'm sadistic. :D Actually I love my job. I feel that no one really got hurt and we all went home last night. 2 important things in my line of work. :D

MMMMMMMMMMMMMm restraints.

Sounds like one of my days but I don't get to restrain the morons. ;)
