Who here hates EA ? Make sure to post reasons, I want to see how many people feel the same way as I, which is that they're always in such a rush to make money, they release bugged games (Battlefiled '42, CnC Generals) and before the initial bugs are even fixed, they start work on expansion packs. Anyone who plays Generals or BF'42 should know about how bad EA has been, moreso with Generals, it's disgusting how unsupported the game is. Game's been out 6 months (I think), it took two months (just came out monday) to release a patch to fix a major bug, and it didn't even FIX IT. They had said they tested the patch for 2 weeks. It looks like all they did was open the game and then close it to make sure it worked. So far there has been one post by EA on the forums, all he said was that they were "taking notes" on the problems with the patch. They know the problems because they weren't fixed. He also said that they weren't even working on a new patch (and may not even do so) So, if anyone else has a hate for EA over other games or anything about that awful company, feel free to vent your anger so we can hate togerther.

dude i got dual monitors for c&c and my mouse can go off the screen and on to my other screen i emailed ea and they said just disable your other monitor while you playi dont want to disable my monitor everytime i play its screws up my icons no other game i have has ever had that prob

man, I won both BF'42 and Generals.I love BF, not because of the mere concept, but just because it's such an awesome game.Yes, EA are VERY unsupportive of their games (its their ego see, they've spent the last 10 years releasing sports games,and these sports games get good reviews, thus they think their games are perfect on release)BF '42 has had a couple of patchs released, manily just to fix the stupid AI and some other bugs.The only bug I've ever found in BF so far is clipping. Dead bodies can be driven into the ground and such, but besides that, I can't really think of any.As for Generals though...ugh...the game is bug ridden, lag runs around as freely as children, and the ai is stupid.Ea did release a patch before R2R was released btw (btw=by the way)and please, if you ever wanna buy a good game, and come across BF1942, don't let this post discourage you from buying it.Generals on the other hand, well, I can say that the only RTS I'm looking foward to is Starcraft2 (and they've yet to announce that, but they will, I know they will, they must)

Did anyone ever play WWII Fighters, F/A-18, Longbow, F-16 (etc.), which are all made by Janes? I played WWII Fighters a lot on the net, Janes.net (pretty cool place with a bunch of people to play with), and had a ton of fun everytime, shooting the Nazis out the air with my friends. WWII Fighters was one of the best flight sims for its time and them EA assimilated Janes and took down Janes.net (the only service for those games at the time). They said they would host these game on their site....but they never did. :x :o other than that they are okay....unless they assimilate more small companies like Janes.

They should have left C&C games completely in the hands of Westwood Studios. Ever since Tiberian Sun they started screwing things up. RA2 was good, but had its flaws (few), but I heard Generals was very buggy, and I played a little Renegade... very laggy online.EA screwed over the C&C franchise quite a bit. It's cuz of those darn cartoon infantry in Tiberian Sun...

actully when I had the game I found it very lag free...and the multiplayer was probley the greatest thing ever!

 

But your right, ever since EA reared its ugly head, everything hit the fan.

Let me demostrate:

1.Endless supply of sports titles ensure, causing Wal-Mart shops to decide NHL 2003 or NHL 2002?

 

2.Ea envelopes Janes, turning the pride of the simulation community into a disgrace. Thousands of fans are put down when service is shut off

 

3.Ea envelopes Westwood (and this was the piss period)

CnC, the games the definded a genre, become near budget-titles.

 

4.Whats next

 

I swear if EA goes for Blizzard of Valve, I'll shoot myself.

the only good thing to come from them was BF1942, and they didn't even make or interfer with that, they were too busy screwing over CnC

I beat if Generals didn't have all that advertising and hype put up by magazines and such, then Generals would be in the bargin bin right now

I really don't like Desert Combat.

For me, it just doesn't seem as grand scale as normal BF or a fav mod of mine, Eve of Destruction.

If the only reason u still got BF on ur system is for that, you've apparently forgotten the joys of massive WWII combat...

Desert Combat doesn't run good on my computer anymore, ever since the last patch. And on the my other computer (one I'm on now) I can't download it because something is wrong when I download files sometimes they will just stop partway through. I need a new Ethernet card apparently. Anyway, EoD is my favorite mod. But the regular BF is so much better than EoD and DC (combined).Just to note, EA had nothing to do with Tiberian Sun or Red Alert 2, or Renegade. The sale of Westwood was while they were making Generals. But apparently now the "lack of support fever" that EA has have effected those games as well now. While Generals is a super buggy game, i can't help but love it. Best CnC game since Red Alert. Except the singleplaYEr sucks. Multiplayer makes up for it though.

Dude those are some good games! Almost all games have to be patched.....I have played HL since it first came out and if you played it from the start then you know it too had problems. Most every game out had probs when they first come out. The thing is a lot of the time it is not found because the may only have 100-200 beta testers at best. When the game is released thousands of people are playing and some of the bugs are then found. Thus patches.....If we waited for "perfect" release it would suck so bad to wait year after year for a game that may not even make it. Take TF2 that still has not come out......I have been lusting over that game for about 2-3 years or however long it was first talked up. Now there is a rumor it MAY come out with HL2...one can only hope! When and/or if TF2 is released I can see it taking the place of FA because from what I have been reading it is very much like FA only better teamplay and graphics...not to mention more GUNS!

a lot of the companies have moved their employment areas overseas, india, phillipines, etc., becuase its cheaper and they evade some taxes. try dell tech support, they say they are from texas yet all have indian accents... :|

However, in the case of Generals, it had a beta test, and most of the bugs they found and reported were never fixed for the release of the game, they're still trying to fix them. I've never seen a game get released with so many bugs before. And 2 months for a patch that didn't even fix half the problems ? That's not right. Another problem; instea of focusing all their attentions on getting a patch out that finally fixes teh game, they decide it'd be a better idea to work on an expansion for the game which has been out around 6 months and is due out this fall. A bit early for an expansion.

EA is stupid! For BF1942 they released patches that caused more problems then they solve. STUPID! The 1.4 patch made my friends BF not work anymore. Silly :shock: EA, making games is for people with brains!
