Posted November 10, 200618 yr This was posted by an EA moderator in their forums... I'm sure many of you are aware of the major bug exploit that is leading to scores of thousands of points. Unfortunately, EA does not have a history of reseting accounts, or rolling back data. To all of you who have played this game honestly, thank you staying true to the spirit of the game. It's players like you who are desired by all companies. I would hate for any of us to get penalized to create and even playing field, but sometimes it needs to happen. To the cheats that don't realize what "spirit of the game" is, you fail to realize that as harmless as it may seem, you are denying true gamers, and skilled players their hard earned points and badges. While we know it has never happened in the past, a server wide reset or roll back wouldn't be frowned on at all by most players who have witnessed such cheating. Sure, as a worst case, we lose many hours of stats and play, but it is still early in the life of 2142, and ranks are very easy to come by if you understand how badges and pins work. I'm calling on the readers of this board/message to post your support or criticism of such actions. Just how do people feel about this?
November 10, 200618 yr no way why should we all lose our points cuz the game makers didn't catch these exploits, and now others are banking on it.that's not our problem as a clan that runs servers it's up to us to try to catch others doing it in our servers. But that's as far as it should go.If they take all of our ranks and unlocks ect. away i doubt it would go over to well in the 2142 gaming world.i personally wouldn't loose to much being a master sarg. gold, but i do have the new knife and would hate to lose it or the many dogtags i've collected.
November 10, 200618 yr WTF u goto be kidding me if i lose everything I might as well not play anymore well its not like i am playing right now anyway just delete the accounts of the cheaters.
November 10, 200618 yr I could go either way. Game isn't even a month old and I'm already up to Master Sargeant Gold and I don't even play all that long or even everyday. I'm not a great knife specialist and I have the knife. So I guess the way I see it, if they do reset the stats, I don't see it as a big deal to me. I'm competent enough with my skills that I would regain the ranks... and probably do so faster because I know the game now. I can go without my Voss... I'm almost as good with the Scar or Krylov. However, it wouldn't bother me if they kept the stats. I don't compare myself to the world, I measure my skills against those I play against the most. And I like to think that every single one of you in the Armory would not stoop to such levels. (If you do, you should think about finding the door out of here anyway, we don't need your kind) I don't care if I'm the best in the world or not, I just care that I can hold my own against those I play with. I look at the badges as goals that improve my gameplay and make me a more rounded player... nothing more.
November 10, 200618 yr I think he is suggesting resetting them back to maybe a few weeks before they started to really Hack/ Exploit the game.
November 10, 200618 yr I can understand the reasoning behind it as much as it does suck. Its always a select few who have to ruin the game for everyone else At least we are pretty good at catching them on our server.
November 11, 200618 yr I don't intentionally do it. I'm not so bothered by it that I would want many to lose much because of a few bad apples. I'd rather try to learn and enjoy the game then conctantly be on lookout for cheaters. But if I notice I'll warn and put on my steel toes or Cowboy boots to kick if need be.
November 11, 200618 yr Well they didn't do any reseting of the entire database in BF2 and we know there were hacks and exploits there, so I highly doubt EA would reset 2142 stats. But if they did, EA/DICE would be DEAD to me! I agree. ^ I would be pretty pissed off if they reset my stats. I spent alot of time gaining those points.
November 11, 200618 yr I'm becoming quite aware there are alot of huge glaring holes in this scoring system where players can both intentially and unintentially pad their stats. (I have 520 points I don't deserve sitting on my score right now thanks to a bug in the badge system) The only way they can fix the integrity of the system is to completely reset it after fixing these holes. However, there is no prize up for grabs. It's not like the top players in the world get a prize from EA for being top players. There's no money on the line, just pride. So screw it, leave it as it is and just have fun with the game.
November 12, 200618 yr Disagree...... It is nice to have a goal or something to reach for. The top guys almost all having fake scores is just ridiculous. I like to compare myself to the top players to see where I stand. If the top players have B.S. scores that takes something away from the game.
November 12, 200618 yr A complete roll back just sounds like an easy way for EA to fix a problem that should ahve been fixed before the game was released. Now don't get me worng I think it sux that some people are cheating but I worked hard for what I have. EA just does not want to take the time to catch people. Most of the cheaters that I have seen were easy to tell, lets make EA do there job.
November 12, 200618 yr I think the easiest solution would to simply delete those accounts who are obvious stat padders. If you roll back the stats now, do they plan to do it EVERYTIME they find a new bug for stat padding?
November 12, 200618 yr how obvious is a stats padder.... take for example Jpen, vs a team of strobes... its obvious Jpen is gonna have a massive score and seem to be stat padding.. where as all teh strobes will be whining and crying.. how would you feel, if someone made a decision sophism, that because you had an extra hundred score on everyone else, you were padding with the crappy guy who is at 50 deaths and 3 points on the other team, even if you werent.. Look at it from this point of view, the people who are stats padding, are generally not able to get the points through actually being good and playing normally.. where as the people who got the points legitimatly, have more practice, skill and ability than those unscrupulous smacktards who do stat-pad. What i mean is, if they roll back, the people who actually did it legitimatly, will be able to acomplish their feats with relative ease, but if you did it by stats padding, you are gonna have to learn and work towards that which you have not done.. if they rollback, then its not a total reset, its a rollback of a few weeks i would rather them roll back and shave a few ranks/badges off that i know i can get back easily, than be knocked out of a decent rank by a bunch of retards who cheat.. --> at least they are aware and are looking towards a resolution... i have heard alot of people over the years say "this is the last straw" when EA did something.. BF1942, 'nam, BF2 have all had instances.. i know alot of people were saying that they werent buying 2142 because of patch 1.3.. and all of those people now have it, give them a chance, if a rollback is the only way, at least it means that EVERYONE is in the same boat, ratehr than having thousands of honest good players tarred with a brush because they are genuinly good...
November 12, 200618 yr I just realised that the top 3 ranks in the game are hardcapped to only allow a set few elite players to actually have that rank. Anotherwords, no matter how good your score is, once you get just below those ranks, you are NEVER gonna rank up again unless your score beats the guy who holds the rank above you. Anotherwords, at this point, no legit player has a chance in hell of ever achieving Major General, Liet General, or Supreme Commander as they will be held by stat padders. Shotty... what you fail to realise is a majority of these stat padders are extremely easy to spot. A majority of the exploits involved get Teamwork points, not kills. Therefore, just look for the guy with a HUGE teamwork score and little or zero kills, and you found your padder. We're talking peaple who get 300, 500, or even 900+ teamwork points a round! How can a person who scores like that possibly be legit?? I've only see 1 exploit to date that allows for an insane Kill to Death ratio. Every other exploit involves teamwork points. So I'm going to have to disagree with you Shotty... they CAN go thru database and at least destroy these peaple who have these insanely high Teamwork points in very little time. The graphs are there, they can track how fast your score raises. I'm sure a simple data miner can weed these bastards out and reset or delete their accounts. I would support this 100 percent because I am 100 percent confident that there is NOBODY LEGIT who has the kind of points these exploiters have. So anotherwords... DICE/EA... do your DAMNED JOB!

Great points. The statpadders aren't just your normal players that are good they are exploiting the crap out of the game. Agreed on all DeadRoach.
November 13, 200618 yr well, from what i gathered here, Eaglez... i am confused. you say you wouldnt want your stats reset, yet you disagree with Roach who said leave it be, and not reset. i dont want to argue or make you angry, its just that i dont think i am following what you mean. My opinions about the stats are as follows. I have spent 80+ hours on this game and would not want my stats reset. "However, there is no prize up for grabs. It's not like the top players in the world get a prize from EA for being top players. There's no money on the line, just pride. So screw it, leave it as it is and just have fun with the game." DeadRoach My disagreance to DeadRoach's first post was about the lack of a goal as a player not about leaving the stats as they are. I am driven to play this game for a number of reasons. I am like Klink in the sense that I love stats. I also love getting on Vent and the teamwork aspect. Take away stats and I have wasted the past 80 hours of my time as far as the game is concerned. If I were EA I would suck it up and have someone or a team go through obvious accounts. Delete all acounts that have made 1000 or more points in a round. (Gameplay points not ribbons, pins, or badges.) The screening could be taken further but I think this gets my point across.
November 13, 200618 yr All EA needs to do is right a script that scans there database and looks for people who unnaturally high Teamwork scores compared to kills. If you have 50k teamwork points and only 100 kills. Then its safe to assume that you are a stats-padder. However, there could be an option when a server admin kicks someone to mark them as a stats-padder. When this happens a script sends EA the username and information the server admin reported. This makes for an easy solution that doesn't adversely impact an honest players stats.
November 13, 200618 yr I'm going to have to disagree with you strongly JPenn. Sure, it is not your fault these holes exist. However, it IS YOUR FAULT IF YOU DECIDE TO USE THEM. Yah yah, I already hear the "This is war, use any advantage" BS arguement coming. This is something we have argued over and over in gaming. But here's the deal... it's morally and ethically WRONG. And therefore I cannot allow this. And until I'm told otherwise by my superiors, I catch ANYBODY using these glitches, they're gone from the server... END OF STORY. Using these glitches goes against the spirit of the game and is unfair to those who want to play honestly. EA, fix your crap!
November 13, 200618 yr heck i wouldn't mind if they did reset the stats this way i can get the stuff i know i want rather than taking unlocks that suck but opp's too late now.
