January 3, 200719 yr Hey ppl, does anyone happen to know if there exists a chart where the dmg you deal to armor is mapped out? I know the rear is weak, but back in BF1942, there were several charts where the entire armor layer of armor vehicles were displayed. For example, right side of turret, you would deal a 56% dmg blow. While the a hit in the rear would deal 98%. The sides would deal 40% etc etc. Anyone have a take on this?? - NarKomaN
January 3, 200719 yr I've seen them for bf2 but not this, I'll look around. I usually aim for the back anyway.
January 3, 200719 yr Author Yeah, true. But in Tank vs Tank, the rear is rarely exposed, atleast in CW's. And so the key lies in finding the weakspots in the front and sides (belts) etc. Like the Russian heavy tank in BF1942 had a oneshot spot right next to the barrel. Thanks for the replies though
January 3, 200719 yr simple solution to that is dont whore around in a tank....pull out the pilum when you need it
January 3, 200719 yr I've heard that if you hit a walker in the "junk" 1 shot can take them down. But i've never seen it.I've never even been able to take 1 down in 2 or 3 shots half the time they sit on supplycrates,so you could shoot a thousand pilum rounds and never dent it.

I can 100% verify that if you "crotchshot" a walker it goes down in a heap of twisted metal. I was playing on Sidi monday night and a walker was raping the center flag. And he indeed was sitting on a supply crate and was fully repaired. I sat with my Pilum and waited for him to come around again. He again stopped on top of the supply crate. I ran underneath him and fired into the crotch and he went down.
January 3, 200719 yr You asked for it, now you get it: http://www.totalbf2142.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-3640.html Very useful tips with screenshots included.
January 3, 200719 yr Very interesting thread. And thx for the links.I was asking my self if an Walker on EMP effect is weaker. I love the cropshot:that funny,i will try it for sure... Im starting at 2142,because i was sure its gionna be full of bugs, and im unlocking the pilum because i see too many people be kill by a armored vehicule and still spawn assault or support:i man,im killed by a tank,i kill that tank:then i found the guy and kill him twice:now were even....
January 4, 200719 yr Great info Bro. For those who find that they can't sleep and want something to read, seeing as playing BF doesn't put me to sleep. Please find the following link chock full of great helpful tips and hints. For those of us who aren't pros I have found some of this info to have been of great help. http://www.totalbf2142.com/forums/archive/index.php/f-69.html
January 6, 200719 yr As the self proclaimed vehicle killer, I offer the following general guidelines to go by.... On a tank and NPC.... NEVER waste a shot on the front. If they have even the slightest turn where you can see the sides, go for the that. Even if your angle is very extreme, the shot will still count for full if you hit the side of the vehicle. TWO Pilum shots to the sides of any tank or apc will kill it. On a walker, if you can't get the underside vent shot, go for the legs. The turret is a waste of time. This is why some walker pilots will crouch, it gives you less "leg" to shoot at. 2 to 3 shots to the legs will take a walker down. If it has a supply box, shoot the supply box first is generally a good rule (1 shot with a Pilum KO's the box). You are going to have to take at least 3 shots regardless, it's better to make sure it doesn't keep healing if you fail. The "Crotch Shot" on the walker is not always an automatic kill. On a 100% healthy walker, it actually takes the walker to the edge of death where it starts burning. You have approx 3-5 secs before it will explode. Many experianced pilots will bail, bring out your SMG and be ready for them. Some Engies will use the SMG to deliver the finishing blow as the Vents are also vulnerable to small arms fire (1 hp per shot). I once finished off a heavily damaged walker using a Voss by shooting these vents. Also, you don't have to be right under the walker... sometimes from a low profile you can make the shot from short distance, I've done it 3 times that I can remember. Keeping in mind the inaccuracy of the pilum, it's not something I would try regularly unless you're desperate the down the Walker in one shot and can't get under it. The links cover the other weak spots, so I won't go into that. But this was general advice because 90 percent of the time, you aren't going to have that "Sweet" shot you want and have to make due with these weaker areas.
January 8, 200719 yr Great Info DeadRoach this will definately help me whoop some Walker, Tank, and APC butt when i finally get to play again!!! Its crazy that person writing the linked thread above took that much time to record each amount of damage to the point value for each area of every heavy vehicle... Whew I think I got that right! Well darn good thread thanks again for the input
