So tuesday night my hotmail email account was hacked.

It contained a paystub from my work which in turn contained my SIN number

(social security number)

It also contained login details for various accounts throughout the web. including steam etc.

well i managed to regain access to the account via hotmail tech support etc and reset the password.

I've also flagged all my credit and my identity etc.

the guy managed to get a hold of my CAL member login. and My steam account! now i have to work to see if i can get these back.

Sometimes I really hate people!

serves me right for using hotmail i guess. NEVER AGAIN!

ouch  Sorry to hear about that, I know if you speak to valve they can reset your steam account password for you. It may take some convincing though. Hope you get it all fixed up.

I submitted a ticket to valve verifying my steam account.

also got the hackers ip address. he is located in calgary and has the same isp as me.

if i dont get it back im getting a new one.
its probably cleric:rolleyes:

Hope everything gets under control man

i doubt cleric knows scoutnex ;)

now that you have their IP address cant you like...go to the cops

I went to the cops. Since the cost to me personally has only been about 100 bucks (steam with hl2, css, hl, etc etc). It's not worth it to persue the person yet. so im keeping his info on file. I may phone in a complaint to the isp as his is the same as mine. and give them his address. But until he tries anything further. im just sitting and waiting.

and if nothing further happens. I have friends who manage big networks and watch for hackers for a living. so suffice it to say i'm going to give the guys ip to my friend. and "let him play" hahaha.

by the sounds of it since the only thing the person took from what i can see is my steam account, CAL account. When he could have taken soo much more. He's just a kid looking to hack in css without losing his own account.

You should still be going to the cops no matter what..

naw not worth it at this point. if I file a report they take my computer for a month to investigate. No thanks. I can live with a lost steam account, which i may be able to recover soon.

Hey Scout go hear (http://www.ic3.gov/) to report it...they want big or small fraud.

that seems to be US. everything happened in canada.
Sorry to hear that Scout. I got screwed on Ebay once from a person who lived in Canada. I couldn't press charges and they dont make it easy for you to either. ;) Hope all works out well for you.
hahahahah. well im almost positive it's not a static. but i do know that the isp we use doesnt change the ips very often at all.
