January 28, 200719 yr Well I had bf2142 installed originally, worked fine, then I decided to get that no-cd bf2142.exe file so I don't need the cd to boot the game. I had already installed 1.10, so I got the file for that version, put it in the folder, and it gave me an error. So I pop in the dvd, and it doesnt have the Play Now button, just the 'Install' button, probably because I moved the whole bf2142 folder into my F: drive for space reasons. So I figure 'no problem' I'll just uninstall the whole game and install it back into F:. I go into the control panel, find bf2142, click uninstall, and the installshield wizard pops up, says it's getting rdy to uninstall, I see the green backround for the uninstall window pop up for like 1 second, and it disappears and nothing else happens. Alright, well I'll just delete it manually. I go into F: drive and delete the full bf2142 folder. Pop in the DVD, click install, and blam, I get the exact same reaction from when I tried to uninstall, the green background from the installshield wizard pops up for a sec, then nothing happens. I tried restarting, got the same reactions. What am I supposed to do? I checked if the installshield wizard was just borked, so I popped in the BF2 dvd and it began to instal fine. So it's just the bf2142 that's messed up.. Also, in the Add/Remove Programs in the control panel, under bf2142, it says that there's 11.77mb of it. But where? I deleted the whole folder. I even searched 'bf2142' in Search for C and F drive, and got no results. Am I screwed or what?

January 28, 200719 yr Author in my documents there is a bf2142 folder and i bet punk buster would get u in trouble with the no-cd thing some how lol but how does that one folder cause the problem of installing/uninstalling the game?
January 28, 200719 yr Author Okay well I managed to find what the error is by clicking on the window that pops up for half a sec and found this: http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/835/image1uo1.jpg Now what does this mean? Is my disc damaged? I didn't do anything to it..
January 28, 200719 yr I don't know what is wrong, but if I were trouble shooting this I would hit Ctrl-alt-delete to get to the task manager and look through the processes to see if there was something that looked like it was trying to install BF2142. if there is I would end the process. I don't know if that will help, that is just what I would do next. Hope this helps.
January 28, 200719 yr just restart ur computer or go to processes tab on task manager and kill setup.exe
January 28, 200719 yr Author Yeah there is nothing in the precesses tab that's for bf2142 or any setup..

January 28, 200719 yr What do you mean you took out reg entryes? What are those ok forget about the reg. was thinking about two things at once the reg was supposed to be in an im not to help with your prob glad you noticed that feel stupid now
January 28, 200719 yr i think somehow you have corrupted the old registry key making the installer using it even if you try to install again. You need to delete all files that have anything to do with the game, then go to "regedit" and delete the reg key, and only then try to reinstall the game making your sys to recognize the install as it will be the first time. Hopefully this will work give it a shot.
