February 21, 200719 yr I'd suggest the Dell 2407WFP display. 1900x1200. I have two of these and absolutely LOVE them. The widescreen dells is what all the major gaming studios and such use to show off their software if you go to a conference. They are the best displays money can buy.
February 21, 200719 yr i got the dell e207wfp lcd monitor think its just as good The new E207WFP eschews big brother 2007WFP's bells and whistles like a USB hub -- along with the composite and S-Video ports, as far as we can tell -- but still sports that 1,680 x 1,050 widescreen resolution, 20.1-inch viewing area and a DVI port with HDCP. The monitor even bests the 2007WFP with a 5ms response time, compared to the latter's 16ms, but the best news comes in the form of the spankin' $289 pricetag, which compares quite favorably to the 2007WFP's $529 MSRP, or even its $400-ish Froogle price. The E207WFP should be available "immediately" worldwide, and if you can do without the high-end frills, or one of those schmancy jumbo-sized 24 or 30-inchers, it doesn't seem you could go far wrong with this unit.

February 22, 200719 yr Smaller the response time the better.. the higher the contrast ratio the better, also look for max res on the moniter itself (high = good) and thats pretty much it.. get the best you can afford.. smallest response time and highest contrast ratio;s are better, if you do turn fast and such with slower response time, you will see ghosting (as i do on the other PC - has a dell generic LCD) obviously the larger the more expensive, if your comfy with, i would try to stay above 19" definatly, all makes for a better experience, in the end its down to personal preference as with anything else., i am a CRT fan because they acheive refreshrates, resolutions and contrast ratios (and the colour clarity) still that require a HUGELY expensive LCD to match, and i have the space, its all about what you want, and what you have to spend

March 2, 200719 yr Author Well, I was waiting for the Asus 22" 2ms LCD to become available at www.newegg.com but it hasn't. While checking the site I noticed Newegg has a new monitor just in. The LG L226WT-BF 22" 2ms DVI/HDCP 1680x1050 Max/Native Rees 3000:1 Contrast Ratio. The contrast ratio beats the ASUS's 700:1 which also seems to be the standard for most 22" 2ms LCD monitors. The Newegg reviews are all good save the fact that it doesn't come with a DVI cable which I also ordered. I'll check this out and let you guys know. Reason I'm posting this now is in case your in the market for a new widescreen LCD. These are in stock at Newegg right now. The only 22" 2ms monitors in stock at this time.

March 4, 200719 yr Here are the two I would get. Best ratio and response time. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8198005&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat104900050012&id=1165609038396 http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Samsung-22-rdquo-Widescreen-Monitor-226BW/sem/rpsm/oid/170984/catOid/-12965/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do
March 4, 200719 yr hi redfrost if you have not decided yet i could suggest that you have a look at the Samsung 226BW ,22", 2ms, 3000:1 (so it says, i believe that there are diff. counting methods), i just bought it yesterday and my word it is my first but like you maybe, i have looked over the net for the past few months, it has changed my gaming a lot, no ghosting at all, with the dvi cable the game just gone full screen running on the highest res 1280x960 i think, by the way the monitor runs at 1680x1050 and 60hz, over here in Macau i've paid about 280$usd, maybe it is cheaper where you are. Have a look at it cheers.
March 13, 200719 yr the thread is gone without being noticed, redfrost you wanted to have a look at the above. cheers
March 13, 200719 yr My DELL E228WFP 22" WS should be arriving any day. Sure hope its better than my 21" CRT.
March 14, 200719 yr Got my new monitor today..darn shortcut trick isnt working..here is what my target says "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1680 + szy 1050 I get the initial BF2 screen, then it goes back to desktop
March 14, 200719 yr I am not impressed. I think there are more cons to the Samsung 226bw than Pros compared to my Veiwsonic 21" CRT.
March 15, 200719 yr I've got the Gateway 24" widescreen. 5ms, 1000:1, 1920x1200 and it supports 1080p. It also has PIP so you can watch TV while on the computer or use it for dual computers. I am in love with it, HD movie trailers look soooo sweet!
March 15, 200719 yr mr Foes is your monitor conected through the dvi cable ?, mine is and it has gone widescreen on the bf2142 by itself.
March 15, 200719 yr Affirm, using the dvi cable. I am able to use widescreen, but had to set res to 1280x1024 vice 1680x1050.
March 15, 200719 yr that would be correct then, in one of my previous thread (i believe i have called it BF2142 limited res ?) i have also asked the guys how come i can only go for the 1280 res on the game, somebody answered that the game just does not take it and it is the max it goes so now i have it set to all on high even the antialising rate is at 4x face to my 8800gtx capable of 8x but the game wont take it, it just reverse itself to 4x when i try it. So for the sake of the wide view and the fact that at 1680 it should bend the image a lot i have left it at 1280. Never tried the 1680 via the shortcut but there you go it's just not working. Let me know if you find anything for now i have settled with 1280 as well.
