[Sig] Castlevania//New Method

Featured Replies

Okie doke: Just to preface things a bit, I took a bit of a break from making a sig for myself 'cause I started to get a bit discouraged at my lack of expertise in the Photoshop field. I only knew about two'r'three ways to make a sig, and they all just seemd a bit... 2D. Bland. Boring. But each method had its place, but not for what I was wanting.

Anyway, so I took it upon myself to kind of... mess around with this Castlevania render here.

Oh, and before anything is said -- I totally think the light source is a bit bright, but I might work on it later... which is why I say...

Comments/suggestions/critiques NEEDED.

Looks good, try experimenting with the Burn tool, maybe just burn the render and leave the background the same and see if it looks better or not.

Okay, so I burned the light source to dumb it down and burned the back end of the render for a little more uniformity; here's the result...

Okay, first things first -- WHAT?! :D :D

Are you suggesting that I put... a picture of a biscuit there?! XD

Well, I wanted to stay minimal; and the fact that I'm still pretty nub to PS, I didn't wanna get flashy at all. ^^;;

By the way! I was working on this sig alongside the other; would you say this is more forum-worthy/a better sig?

Comments/Suggestions/Critiques, as always... on both.

Looks good as is dude. Nice job.

Thank you! Both took me a few hours each, but I'm rather pleased with the way they came out, especially considering these are only my... what... 4th and 5th sigs ever?

I just expect there are definitely some critiques people could have, ways to improve the look (such as the burn tool, which I totally didn't think about until it was mentioned).

Good job there Biscuit! I really enjoy the overall simplicity of the Lord Fuzzywig sig. I guess I really shouldn't say "simplicity" because the most simple looking things take quite a few complicated steps. If you're looking for a new style to try out I'd suggest reading a few tutorials on using C4D renders and stock images. I'll give you some examples to know what I'm kind of talking about

These two would be examples of C4D dominant sigs. These sigs utilize various Cinema 4D (or C4D) renders to create very unique lightings and "flow" effect.

These next two are examples of "stock" imagery in a sense. I assume you know what stocks are, but for those who don't a "stock" is either a picture with a render that you want in it or just a picture of scenery or something. In these two, I use scenery stocks to add to the sig instead of working with just one stock image.

In the first of these two, I used a stock of a decorative rug to help form the basis of the background and then used various lighting, blending, and color changing techniques. In the second one, if you notice the little spiral area above the girls head, it's actually a picture of a winding staircase. Again, I used various lighting, blending, and color changing techniques.

Hmm...thats the longest I've typed for anything on this board in a while lol. I hope that this helps you in some way Biscuit.

You actually hit the nail on the head, figuratively speaking there Taco! While my sigs aren't near as pretty, nor as complicated as yours, I utilized both of the methods you described here!

In the Castlevania sig, I used a stock of a city; I believe it was a skyline at night, actually. In the Ichigo sig (Lord Fuzzywig sig), I started with a gradient, then smudged, then added a bunch of steps here, then tossed on a render, erased, and added some light.

I was really blessed with that sig because the render decided to cooperate a little more than I was used to (I'd say it's because the render was pure white/black to begin with), so uniformity wasn't too difficult. Colours certainly are not my forte', so bringing a sig "together" is just... whoo! It's tough for me. I feel like when I use hue/saturation that I'm blending -too- much.

Anyway, Taco, I'm really fond of your work, so perhaps we can discuss creation methods sometime. ^^;

;) Thanks man! Yeah we could chit the chat about methods and what not. I'm just glad that something I said actually helped and made sense lol.

Actually a rather important bump/post here --

I touched up the render, on her hand and her shoulder/neck there was a bit of bleed from the render/smudge/colour filters. So I cleaned that up, tell me if it looks better or not.

NOT TOUCHED UP:

I'll call CNN......: )

'kay. Do that.

You didn't answer my question though... Rather, you didn't say if it looked better touched up or not. :[

Hah, okay then. If it's not noticeable, I'll use the "clean" version, just because... well... it's clean. Squeaky clean, like a rubber ducky in a bubble bath.

...or something.

EDIT: Thanks.
