Looking for a digital camera

Featured Replies

I am thinking about asking the parentals for a digital camera for a graduation present, or maybe just buy one myself. I want one that is good but compact (something that will fit in my pocket.) I am trying to keep it below $150, but a little over that is OK too. I want one that has a pretty quick shutter speed (I think thats what it is?) because I love to take pictures of people when they don't know that I am doing it. I like the pictures I can get of people when they are being real, not faking it up for a camera.

So pretty much I want a compact digital camera for under $150 that can take pictures instantly with good quality :)

You really can't go wrong with Nikon or Canon, stick with those and you'll be safe. Myself, I had an S3IS($300) and it took great pictures.

SO maybe I don't know what I am talking about with shutter speed. This is what I meant:

A lot of digital cameras that I have seen take up to a few seconds to actually take the picture after you have pressed the picture button. So it works like this: Oh look I want to take a picture of this person throwing that ball! *Click button* .... .... .... .... *picture!* Then the picture turns out as, not the person throwing the ball, but as the person having a ball nowhere near them anymore. This is a bad thing. I want to be able to snap pictures off quickly, right!? I don't know if that is a technical specification that I can compare or if I just have to guess.

I'm on my third. Number 1 I misplaced, ya I know. Number 2 we have by my wife gave it a serious smackdown. My number 3 is a Sony can't remember which. 8.1 megapixel. Pictures are awesome, it recognizes faces and adjusts the image for the best picture.

Sam's had them for $180 for a short time. Now I believe they are $269.

The first one I had was a Sony, loved it. After I lost it I got a Nikon. Compact but much less in the way of options. I went back to Sony because I wanted to be able to shoot in black and white and other things.

Anywho look at the Sony's I really noticed a difference. Also don't get anything less than 8 megapixels. That can print pictures at 11x17 if printed.

I am not really looking for anything that is going to be crazy awesome. I'm not going to be printing anything, I don't think, so 7 or even 6 MP is OK with me.
