July 10, 200718 yr As in maps I think, they started a thread where people can mention which maps seemed unbalanced in terms of having to cap objectives and such. Oh that makes sense. There are two things I really hope they fix: 1. When you are standing behind a car or something and shooting with your head barely sticking up above it, even if your iron sights are above the top, the bullets still hit the object. This has gotten me killed plenty of times. 2. The fact that when you walk, especially when you turn, it feels like you are gliding. Also, when you watch people sprint, it looks like they are rollerblading because of the way they move their feet/arms. :o
July 10, 200718 yr 1. When you are standing behind a car or something and shooting with your head barely sticking up above it, even if your iron sights are above the top, the bullets still hit the object. This has gotten me killed plenty of times. Definitely agree with you on this one, this had gotten my killed countless times. They said it was because the barrel is under the iron sights, so when your that close you need to take that into account but it still needs to be adjusted. You can adjust iron sites to compensate for that difference, apparently their weapons don't.
July 10, 200718 yr "Campers are Us" should be the name of the game or "Spawn camping FTW". Thats how I see the game. It has potential but needs to be played en-masse and critiqued that way so that the designers see its MAP and gameplay flaws.

But sometimes I see this happening to other teammates, and their barrels are above the object, and actually sticking over the object, but when they shoot I see the bullets hit the top. it's so frustrating because then the guys know you're there and when you move into a more exposed position to actually be able to hit your target you get mowed down

I don't know about camping, necessarily, (I've always seen that as a viable tactic in any game, but I don't see it happening much in INS) but the spawn camping is RIDICULOUS in this game! Any game that has mobile spawns needs to take into account that each spawn needs to be "safeguarded." You can't just have players spawn into the heat of battle, or where they would be near getting shot in the head as soon as they spawn in. Whether it be a physical safeguard, where you spawn far enough away from the battle that getting shot instantly isn't a problem, or spawn protection, where you are invulnerable for, say, 3-5 seconds immediately following spawn, it needs to happen. It's been said about a hundred million times on the forums, but all ths makes you wonder what the hell the testers were doing. Almaden is so clearly Insurgent stacked. It's not even, like, "Oh, USMC just doesn't know what to do." No, they can have a perfect idea of what to do and employ awesome teamwork to do it, but the fact is, there are only three places they can go to get from Alpha to Bravo and every single one of those places is a chokepoint. You have the mosque, which gets camped to hell, and even 203s and smoke won't save you from the spray of the RPKs and spam of the frag grenades; you have the street, which is murder because Insurgents are always setting up their sniper to watch the road; lastly, you have that one building that you have to run in which requires you to use the street. You have to run up the street, then take a hard right up some stairs, then a hard left in a doorway. Insurgents like to camp here because Marines are too busy trying to sprint in from all the gunshots to be able to engage. Terrible, terrible, terrible set up, IMO. The worst of all the maps is Ramadi when it comes to spawn camping. Ramadi has those two little "hallways," so to speak, that all players must exit to get into "the map." But the map developer decided it'd be cool to let players get in buildings' windows and other things to camp those areas almost exclusively. That's a great way to get people to leave the server, or even the game, entirely. It's happening now on Hillah too. USMC spawn likes to get camped, because it's SOOOO easy to do so. They provided the Insurgents with all this cover and these little holes they can peek through and just pewpew the Marines away as soon as they go over the hill in their spawn.
July 11, 200718 yr Tried it, wasn't all that thrilled with it. I like to play, not be stuck in some queue for over half the game. Personally, I didn't care much for Red Orchestra either. Just not my style of game.
July 12, 200718 yr I've been playing Insurgency quite a bit the last few days, and i havent seen any real huge balance issues or spawncamping at all. Mostly im playing on 32 player servers tho, I can definately see it being an issue in smaller games where you just dont have enough players to defend all the side alleys and multiple routes there can be. Alloting for a learning curve with the players actually finding out where the cap points are might keep them from running ahead and hitting respawns before points get capped as well. So far i like it, its a nice distraction
July 12, 200718 yr 2. The fact that when you walk, especially when you turn, it feels like you are gliding. Also, when you watch people sprint, it looks like they are rollerblading because of the way they move their feet/arms. thats ur problem i dont have that. mabey u need to get a update
July 12, 200718 yr -INS is awesome...I believe it was meant to have a realistic feel to it. If you are defending an objective you are going to find a position that gives you the best advantage over the attacking force and wait (camping much?)...you do not run around like a moron asking to be sniped. If you work VERY close with your squad you get all of the intel you need and can run flanks while your SAW keeps the OpFors head down. Streets? Bounding overwatch, problem solved. There are issues with certain game mechanics...almost as if it was a beta lol. Give them feedback (ask Bravo for the site), but don't b*tch at them if you want it to be another 2142...the way some of you play an FPS is wholly unusable in this game. I see people playing it like the BF games all the time (spawn in, rush to the front, rinse, repeat), that is not what it is and that is what I think makes it great. There are more points to be made, but: [/rant]
July 13, 200718 yr Well I learned about Armory from Insurgency. Based on the way that you fellows acted, played, and talked, I was more than eager to keep playing on the server. Before I talk about Insurgency, I wanted to compliment Armory's maturity level and ability. (I'm still working on the no cussing rule, sorry if one or a dozen slip out) Insurgency is perhaps the best game I have ever played. Granted, there are a lot of bugs that still need to be worked out, but being that it is still in it's first beta, I am more then willing to put up with it. Compared to other FPS games, such as Day of Defeat Source...or Battlefield 2, this game offers more in the way of teamwork and realism. Graphics are superior to that of Battlefield 2 and are naturally comparable to other Source mods (though a lot better in my opinion then most mods I've ever played, I don't see grass move in Day of Defeat >_>.) I love not having a health bar, not being able to tell who is friend or foe, and only having the lovely iron sights as your means of engagement. Working in teams is perhaps the greatest gift this game has to offer. It's a whole lot of fun coordinating flanking maneuvers and trying to figure out a way to outsmart the enemy (frontal assaults DON'T work in this game.) While I agree that spawn camping is a big issue, again, it's in its first beta and I expect a lot of the problems that we have to be solved soon.

The graphics are better in INS but bf2 does have things that insurgency doesn't have in graphics different lighting and shadow effects.
July 13, 200718 yr Well I learned about Armory from Insurgency. Based on the way that you fellows acted, played, and talked, I was more than eager to keep playing on the server. Hey bud! I remember playing with you on a different server (some random pub). This is FSM! Lord Fuzzywig! =] Nice to see you checkin' out the Armory. ^^
July 13, 200718 yr "Campers are Us" should be the name of the game or "Spawn camping FTW". Thats how I see the game. No kidding, it sucks when you come around a corner and some guy is crouching in the shadows with an AK and can mow down four marines before anyone knows what's going on. Its like you HAVE to send one guy through alone and when he gets mowed down he can let you know there is someone camping. But most of the time the rest of your squad will just charge in behind the first guy and get blasted. It gets frustrating quick. And then you have the guy on the game speak calling everyone else idiots because they don't do what he says. Sure, maybe he has a good idea of what to do, but yelling at people like that isn't going to make bad players into great team players all of the sudden. Half the time it seems they'll just leave the server, the new guys that is. Some people just don't get the fact that this is a very different FPS and takes some time to adapt too, especially if someone is hellbent on playing it like battlefield or counterstrike source, charging into the enemy here gets you killed in one shot by some guy that was crouching behind the door you just ran through.
July 13, 200718 yr Hey Fuzzy, and yes I do remember you! Awesome to see you here as well. Phunky: What you view as camping isn't exactly the same as it is on say Counter Strike. The objectives of most Ins. games are to capture/attack/defend certain key areas. Naturally defending an objective might entail some amount of camping. But when you are the victim of an entrenched enemy, half the fun is figuring out a way around that. One of the maps....don't remember the name, but it's a giant mineshaft, the Insurgents are holding a cave, and the US is supposed to TAKE that cave. It's one of the most fun maps of the game. Even though, as a marine, you die A LOT. Spawncamping is the most common "bad" thing that I've noticed on Ins. A lot of people do it and it's completely unnecessary, hopefully the next big update will add some kind of limited spawn protection.

For the US they could be MGunners behind sandbag, and the Insurgents could have snipers in prechosen windows and such. Make the bots killable with fast spawn times and no points value.
July 13, 200718 yr That would be an extremely cool and hard thing to do. More likely however, will be "unpassable" areas where the enemy couldn't get through to camp us.
July 15, 200718 yr Hmmm. Free. Okay. Get big 646mb 1.0 full client install, then 1.1 patch. Started download now. 120 kb/sec says 1.75 hrs. Then patch.
