I like it. Its different then most RTS I've played. I like how the camera uses w,a,s, and d so you can have a complete look of the battlefield. I like how stuff is just airdropped in and doesn't come out of nowhere from a building in your base. This is game is pretty realistic and has great physics. I give two thumbsup :) ;) ;)

EDIT: LOL woops...three thumbs.

Correction: I give it three thumbs up :D  :p

;) -Looks neat. The single player is nothing new (other, lesser-known RTS have covered it all before (:rolleyes:lol, biggest nuke ever?!? it only destroyed one town:thumbsdown:)), but the multiplayer, however, looks fantastic! THAT is what this game should be bragging about.

;) -I will pick it up.

Okay...not totally my type of game but I noticed one feature I think is awesome!!! After changing the video settings you can run a benchmark to; A. See if it's playable or B. Test hardware changes.

Ok two days ago I downloaded it and tried it out...

IT SUCKS

It's so bad it's ridiculous.

You would think that a strategy game would have relatively small maps with intense fighting, but this doesn't have that at all.

Your units get airdropped in, and unless you are air with helicopters it takes forever to get your units to the fighting zones, especially if you're infantry. Then once you get there you most likely get owned and you have to air drop more troops and send them in... it's a vicious cycle.

You have to pick one of four classes: air, support (arty, etc), infantry, or armor, and they all have extremely blatant weaknesses

Your team is supposed to work together to make up for these weaknesses but that is incredibly hard to do effectively, and the collectively low IQ of most players makes that even harder

Don't download this, it's a waste of time

I think its a great game. Very fun for the family... ;) Oh and if your infantry thats why theres troop transport and the maps are not even that big. Its 8v8 style play so theres battle everywhere. Maybe you just haven't played the game very much or haven't used it to its full potential. During the wait you should be seeing what your team is doing.

Don't let Cossu or me tell you what to do. Download the beta, play the game and make up your own mind. ;) :D

:D -Well, I tried it out. It has a nice feel to it and it is pretty, but, as was stated before, you need other people to cover your weakness. Most humans seem to be morons and a team of morons will not make for a fun game. I am going to play it a little more...I still am not entirely turned off to it yet.

:D -Though not a fan, the nukes are HORRIBLE in this game lol

This game isn't fun by yourself. Go into teamspeak and vent and get a partner. He goes tanks, you go support aa tanks. Maybe another guy with choppers hanging back, make sure its all heavy attack choppers though because medium attack are only good vs air because you already have one guy going aa tanks. this game is fun when you have a strategy in mind. :D
what is it and what do you use to open it?

^_^ -It just opens for me...go to their site and look up the DX10 demo video...that is what it is. :) :D

You need quicktime to view that I think

If you mean the demo, it is a torrent file. Download uTorrent and it should work.

This game is really well done, its incredibly easy for anyone to pick up, so even when youve just started, you may not be very good, but you wont be totally useless in a multiplayer game either.

The controls are easy and intuitive, units are well balanced with each other, even if the sides are sort of identical, and the special powers are very varied and fun.

Fast paced multiplayer games as well, so youre almost never sitting around bored waiting for something to happen, and the control point system is very interesting, I HIGHLY recommend this beta to anyone who likes strategy games and/or anyone who is a fun of games that are inspired by Red Dawn

Alright I have been an rts fan for a long time.

I started with starcraft, played Warcraft III and the expansion, I played Company of Heroes (another military RTS, but this one is in WWII), and I am looking forward to Starcraft 2

World in Conflict sucks. Your troops are paradropped in, which means you have no home base. Building, maintaining, and defending your home base was half the battle in traditional, and better, RTSs.

This game doesn't allow add the increased difficulty of quickly building a base, instead you pretty much start in the fray. It is basically like a bf2142 map, but you have an in-the-air view of people doing their thing. So basically it takes out pretty much everything I liked in an RTS and makes it an FPS with an in-the-air view.

This game becomes a sort of just move your units around and let them fire at stuff while you sit there and hope you win

In addition, you have to be way up high in order to move your units around effectively. By doing this you feel that you are not part of the battle.

I also hate how you can only specialize in one branch, i.e. air, support, etc. I'd much rather it be that you could produce all units type and how many of what type you produced and how you arranged them made a big difference in battle.

This way, instead of spreading out your units in like 5 different locations to help all of your allies because they would be weak against certain units, you and your allies could create their own little mini armies to launch their own assaults with their own anti-air, tanks, infantry, aircraft, etc.

You can get it if you want, but just know that not everybody thinks it's awesome.

wow, now i'm definitely not getting it. I used to only play RTS too - warcraft, starcraft, age of empires.

i'll probably take a look at starcraft 2 - when was the last bad blizzard game?!?

:p -Allergic to change much? LOL. Cossu...you are not an RTS player (no offense intended), you are a [insert word here]Craft player (I think the craft games where brilliant FYI). WiC was fantastically done for a Real-time Strategy(RTS)...if you want to build a base and have one unit that does EVERYTHING play CnC3 (Ideal game for non-RTS players). I am an RTS player. I have played almost every game that can be categorized as an RTS (Dune, Genesis, RoL, Maelstrom, Urban Assault, and many more that most people have not heard of)....anywho...the game...

^_^ -You pick a role to cover in the current theater of war; Support(arty/repair/AA), Air(helicopters mostly), Armor(Tanks), Infantry(The real men and their APCs). You then pick a 'Drop point' on your side of the map. You get X number of points to 'buy' units. Once 'purchased' the units will be flown in and you can roll out. The points you have to 'buy' units with slowly regenerate and there is a wait in between drops.

:) -Alone, you are useless and easily defeated. Once you start coordinating assaults the game gets really fun. Using the 'Q' key you can communicate your intentions, ask for help, or any other of about 15 commands. This does mean that a team must want to win as a team...BF anyone LOL...thus far I have not had a problem with finding at least four other guys that want to work together. You can build low-end stuff from the other 'Classes' but it costs A LOT more (ie, As support, I can build long-range arty and a scout chopper(air force) to spot for me), but usually I can just ask for some recon and someone will help.

:p -The game itself is fast paced, short games. You can join at any time (because of the troop drop system) which is a neat feature. You CnC players can zoom all the way in and listen to the troops in a squad chat when they are not doing anything, and SupCom guys can play from an almost orbital view.

-In conclusion, because I do not like typing, WiC is a different kind of RTS for people that are sick of SimCity with tanks. It is well made and almost perfectly executed, and Cossu...It by no means sucks...what you meant to say was "I suck at it" or "I do not like the play style". :D

-E- Just a last word here...I like games with FORCED teamplay, because team oriented games (BF2142) means it is hard to find anyone not in it for themselves. In this game "in it for yourself" means you die and I laugh at you.

Trust him. He knows from experience. ^_^
