What is the shelf life of bottled water?

IM thinking of stocking up:)

Britain is suffering its worst flooding in living memory, leaving tens of thousands of people without power or water. There have been mass evacuations across central and southern England with thousands of homes flooded.

Flood levels have peaked just two inches short of the height which would have swamped a major power station - leaving 500,000 homes without electricity.

The Thames is in danger of bursting soon, threatening areas in the Home Counties and London.

Two of Britain's major rivers - the Avon and the Severn - have already burst their banks.

Technically forever, as long as it's completely sealed

cool IM serious we had 23 straight days of rain here and Im just waiting for whats next being hurricane season and of coarse terrorist season :)
;) -If you have the money for it, get a fuel-oil\water tank and have it installed in your attic. Have it plumbed to a valve into the main water line in the house...fill it, and let it sit...when there is a water crisis, you can turn a valve and there should be enough pressure to use sinks, toilets, etc. Don't forget to add a tap on the water tank itself...just in case. :peace: :)

fda hasnt set a shelf life for bottled water

meaning that its good unless its opened which means that it could start growing things than

if its closed itshould be fine forever

might not taste the same after a couple years

well bottled water lasts for a very long time lol. We have hundreds of pallets of bottled water here were I am station. We went through a pallet of gatorade in about a month just in our hanger alone lol. Well sorry to hear that england is flooding that sucks.

The thames did burst... the fire brigade and army fought for 11 hours to keep an electrical switching station dry otherwise 220,000 people would have been without power

Currently 250000 are without water (running water that is), 48,000 are without power on various rivers in the UK

we still have 8 Severe flood warnings as i am typing his message.. and the water is still rising.

Add also to that that the RAF have mounted what is confirmed to be their biggest peace time rescue/aid mission ever... all here at home.

also if you thinking about emergencies

a very good idea would be iodine tablets or a filtration system (one made for filtering undrinkable water not a regular filter which wont last long in those conditions)

they are much smaller and last forever

but this only works if you can collect water that would otherwise be undrinkable

Add also to that that the RAF have mounted what is confirmed to be their biggest peace time rescue/aid mission ever... all here at home.

:) -So...at what point is the US going to take a break from our war and give these guys a hand??? I assume we are already there...right?

er....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

wow this is the first ive heard of it.... stupid news...

-G

You'll all be pleased to know that Scotland is flood-free and that im all safe and sound.

Seriously though, i don't think i have ever seen anything like whats happening in England. Whats worse is that some people are bleeding the supplied freshwater tanks dry, then SELLING the water for a profit, absolutely shocking it is.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

we need poor er minorities on TV yelling HELP HELP HELP

then we will send mayor Nagin over to help :)

Yikes! I haven't heard of this until now. I used to keep jugs of water down in my food pantry, in case of a water crisis. They stayed down there for over 4 months and were fine. If they were fine after 4 months, then sealed water in a bottle would have to be good for a longer period of time.
Wow I wish I could see more of the global news here but all they broadcast is the War on Terror. As for water, mineral water and puified water are different. Either one may have a shelf life but it would only be a taste issue I think. Careful though you dont want to get hyponatrimia! that is where you drink too much water and flush your system of nutrients particularly sodium. This is a deadly condition so make sure to mix it with gatorade and or eat several times a day when water consumption is hi!
