Posted August 1, 200718 yr I've been having this issue with Voice over while in a squad on 2142, whenever I hold the V key to talk while in a squad, the little icon that shows under the minimap goes from green to yellow with a crack going down it, does anybody know what that means? Or how to fix that?
August 1, 200718 yr Author I'm sure I am pressing V because its a green icon but then it turns yellow with a crack going through it while I talk, do you think it may have to do something with input/output settings? I'll try to take some screenshots of it in a little while.
August 1, 200718 yr that happends to me to sometimes i wish i knew how to help but i dont know either
August 2, 200718 yr Is it switched in 2142? In BF2, it's B to squad, V to commander by default. i think it is switched in bf2142 but i may have changed the keys to make it like that.
August 2, 200718 yr Author Ok i got the screenshots of what happens the first one is when I just hold the V button without talking and the 2nd one is when i start talking, still holding down V

Just back away from the mic a bit and see if it fixes it. ^^ Another thing is, sometimes if you key the mic for too long, it'll give you the cracked speaker icon.
August 2, 200718 yr Author I'm not sure if I'm being too loud because I'll be using it at night sometimes when people are asleep and I try to talk soft but loud enough so people can hear me still.
August 2, 200718 yr Author Maybe i can take a screenshot of my audio settings and ya'll can see if any of those settings may have something to do with it.
August 2, 200718 yr -The yellow with a crack means you are too loud and the sound is probably distorted on the other end (despite volume). -Green with a 'circle with a line through it' means you have been transmitting too long and need to let up off the key and repress. I believe it is an anti stick feature or anti-spam thing.
August 2, 200718 yr Do any of the settings look like they should be turned down/up? -nope...just talk softer...you can turn outbound down, if you want...
August 2, 200718 yr Author Do any of the settings look like they are too high/low or need to be turned up/down? the image didnt show this time either..
August 2, 200718 yr Do any of the settings look like they are too high/low or need to be turned up/down? the image didnt show this time either.. If you have mic boost on, turn it off see if that works
August 2, 200718 yr Maybe your in-game mic threshold is too high or low? I've never seen that happen to me so I'm not sure what it could be.
August 2, 200718 yr I had the same problem and still do when i talk to loud, in 2142 I had to lower the threshold all the way to the bottom and it seemed to help. I have the mic about 2" from my mouth.
August 3, 200718 yr Author I was also thinking it could be the threshold, and I'm sure Im not talking too loud.
August 3, 200718 yr Turn the mic capture in 2142 down also disable mic boost in game and in windows if still too loud
