Out of the blue my 2142 will load about 60 percent of the map and then stall and I have to restart.

Anyone else get this or anyone know a resolution?

I had this problem a while back may have to do with vid drivers but not sure. I had to reinstall to solve the problem:(

here is how to fix it if anyone gets this too.

Found on EA 2142 forums.

1. Click on your Start Menu

2. Click Run

3. Type: cmd

4. Hit

5. Type: ipconfig

6. Notice the number next to IP Address (ex. 192.168.1.135 ?OR- 192.168.2.127)

7. Type in the following:

route add 72.3.184.144 mask 255.255.255.240

Example:

route add 72.3.184.144 mask 255.255.255.240 192.168.1.135

-OR-

route add 72.3.184.144 mask 255.255.255.240 192.168.2.127

If you have a static IP, type this instead:

route -p add 72.3.184.144 mask 255.255.255.240

The -p parameter makes it "persistent" and since your IP address never changes, the route will stay in your route table even when you restart your computer.

and you will have to read through the posts, I find the last link more useful though.

EDIT: OR you can go to Start/control panel/ add/remove programs/ then remove 2142 THEN delete the 2142 folder, reinstall the game, install patch 1.20, then northern strike if you have it, THEN 1.25, if you dont have NS, then install 1.25 AFTER you have installed 1.20 already. This has happened to me 3 or 4 times so I definately know how to fix it.

I had the same problem untill i deleted radial.cdb the second link there shows how to do it.

I think we all know why your system is crashing..... ;)
Klink, How on earth are you running a dual x1800xt with a 550watt psu? I'm afraid to get a single x1950 with my 500watt. Isn't the minimum requirement like 600watts or 650 or something? Have you had any other errors playing demanding 3D games?

No. It works for me so I dunno what to tell ya.
yea i had this issue happen to me as well, i jsut uninstalled and re-installed and it worked fine again, glad you found a quicker fix though
This happened to me before, the solution I found, and others have used, involves changing your in-game video settings enough to force optimization during map load. After successfully loading I was able to revert back to my custom video settings without a hitch.
Another example of EA\Dice not doing their job. It should not be this difficult to play a game. I feel like we have to jump thru hoops to make these games work that should have been thought of when written.
