Ripped glove brings spacewalk to early end Mastracchio spotted the hole more than four hours into what should have been a 6?-hour spacewalk. "The gloves were good. I don't know where that little hole came from," he radioed. http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/space/08/15/space.shuttle.ap/index.html?eref=ib_technology
August 15, 200718 yr Author its no biggie, it wasn t even punctured all the way through its like 3 layers or more i would insist on some instant glue or liquid nails or something if I had to go out there for 6 + hours
August 16, 200718 yr Wow what a lucky dude. I dont think he would have lasted long if the hole was all the way through! Its crazy that in space specs of paint move at 17000 mph LOL they ruin satelites all the time!
August 16, 200718 yr Nah i'd think he'd notice his oxygen leaking out and just make his way back into the ship
August 17, 200718 yr If it went all the way through wouldn't the suit depressurize in a split second? He wouldn't have much time to get back if that is how it works. http://space.about.com/cs/basics/a/bodyvacuum1.htm He shoulda wrapped it with duct tape and finished the job, be a man!
August 17, 200718 yr A sand grain could go thru you up there, becasue Earth orbits sun at high speed, like around, 1000 mph, plus we orbit earth at additional high speed to maintain orbit against gravity, so imagine impacting headon a tiny speck. Much damage possible. Getting more and more cluttered up there with debris, the more we use it. Although, that debris should mostly be moving at same speed as us unless opposing orbit direction.
August 17, 200718 yr The hole was probably an iPod connection they forgot to tell hiom about!!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 19, 200718 yr Author there is no way I would do nothing about this .......... I would jump in a suit and go replace it ...they have extra tiles......... http://d.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/nm/20070817/2007_08_16t211659_450x341_us_space_shuttle.jpg?x=380&y=288&sig=sg0HfX2KYqa7CHJjqHGh_A--
