why would anyone pay to have someone repair your windows for you

btw, was that file hal.dll?

If you couldnt find your disc! And didnt want to wait weeks to get one in the mail! And I dont really know why anyone would but they do... a lot!

I dont recall the file that was ruined but it was after i compacted ny registry then windows wouldnt even start up at first so I switched to safe mode and it started but nothing but desktop. So I repaired and it worked fine after that.

okay heres a status update. i repaired my windows installation, so now my computer is back to normal. Everything is going great EXCEPT my internet doesnt work. I figured it was no big deal and i would just install my mobo drivers with my mobo cd...but...when i go to run the nforce installer it crashes. What i mean is, the little status bar fills up and then the installer just exits without warning. i've tried downloading the installer on another computer and putting it on a flashdrive but got the same problem.

soooo...is there any other way to get internet? ive tried network config too

Back tracking to the original problem...Why did you restart? was it because you changed the "startup" under msconfig? If you did that sometimes people can hit the wrong tab(services) which can cause a similar problem, if you selected "disable all".

I say just get all the stuff you want off there now and reformat because reformats always give that good feeling inside you that your computer is all cleaned up again.

YOU know you like that feeling!
