September 25, 200718 yr This is always the first question when it comes to almost anything you want really... How much are you wanting to spend?
September 25, 200718 yr What you're going to want is something light for your first bike. My friend Darwin has said it like this, "There are only two kinds of riders in this world. The kind who have dumped their bikes, and the kind who will dump their bikes." Dumping isn't so much fun, so think light to avoid not being able to handle it. Go easy on the CC's; about 600 will do it. Don't get a Harley for your first bike either. Maybe something sport touring will suffice for a while. But maybe I'm just partial not sure on what u should get but wear a helmet. AND LISTEN TO UNDERSPY.
September 25, 200718 yr Author Oh yeah Im not like some idiots on motorcycles who ride without a helmet on the highway. I know there are idiots out there who drive like complete idiots.

I don't think a helmet will save you if you crash going highway speeds on a motorcycle. You'll basically be ripped apart by the road. This is why I want nothing to do with motorcycles, there are too many idiot drivers out there who don't watch out for bikes and can cost you your life real quick.
September 25, 200718 yr *Cough* PHROGG *cough* I ride with a helmet ass..... Although I didn't when I rode the busa....

Actually you won't be ripped apart by the road. You will just get a nice road rash. The main thing is is that you don't hit anything after you crash. If you go from the bike to the road it won't be all that bad, compared to bike to car and then road.....

I have never had a cruiser, but a good sport bike for a beginner is any 600cc class. I like the GSXR myself, used to have one. Shadow makes a good cruiser i have heard and they are reasonably priced.

September 25, 200718 yr I would definately lookd for a used bike. Nothing new.....Oh and if you can help it. Definately don't by any used bike from the dealership.
September 25, 200718 yr Wear a helmet and the proper clothing! A good friend of mine had a real bad accident on his bike, he had his helmet on but he was only wearing jeans and a t-shirt. He got burned real bad from sliding on the pavement and he cracked his helmet, he was in a coma for 5 days but he's okay now. He woulda died if he didn't have a helmet on.
September 25, 200718 yr I've seen some gruesome pictures of an accident, if I can find the link I'll pm it to ya if you want. I will commence looking!

Phrogg is right and if you are wearing gear it cuts it down a whole lot which i will be wearing gear from the waist up and I am also willing to take the risk of being hit on the highway. In my opinion it is all about the open road and that sensation you get.
September 26, 200718 yr I don't think a helmet will save you if you crash going highway speeds on a motorcycle. But you can still have an open coffin.

In my opinion it is all about the open road and that sensation you get. That is exactly right.... I don't mind riding in town every now n then, but riding on the highway is a whole different feeling. Like I said. First thing first...Set a price, and from there go maybe $500 up or so. Unless your rich then don't worry about then. As far as bikes go. Don't worry about the cc. I road a 1100cc for a little while before I got my 1200cc bike. The thing is though I learned on a 175cc dirt bike.
September 26, 200718 yr Author I preety much have a price range of about $500 - $2000 and i looked at insurance at being 20 with geico and i put in a '03 model and it gave me a $466 12 month policy rate and thats with some stuff like crash and med insurance. DOes that sound about right for $466 a year?
