AS a lot of us have been having this problem as of late I thought that I would make a post on a fix for this problem.

First you need to go to your 2142 folder the path should be:

My computer> C drive( or whatever drive you install your games to)> Program files> Electronic arts> Battlefield 2142

Once there you need to click tools on the browser bar and then folder options.

Click the view tab on the box that opens.

Check the dot next to Show hidden files and uncheck box next to Hide operating system files (see picture below) and hit apply.

Last you need to delete the Radial.cdb file (see picture below)It will create a new one next time you start the game. don't have game running while you do this or it wont let you delete the file because it is already in use.

This should fix your problem in less time than it took to read this post.

Sweet, thanks. Well Klinkster's fix fixed the load problems but then I could not change my resolution, weird. Well I did end up uninstalling, reinstalling the game.

Thanks for the info, next time I know how to do it! Thanks SSpeaks.

Some one told me to do the same thing, but left out some of the details. Hmmm.
thanks for the post. it works too! i had to have speaks walk me through it a couple of weeks ago and it worked like a charm. i'm computer illiterate so it took me longer to find the hidden system files.

That's helpful.

I had this problem again and couldn't remember how to fix it so I had to search thru forums. Your fix was easier and it worked.

The other method is:

When in game (before joining a server), go to the communities tab and relaunch Battlefield 2142 v1.50 (I believe it's under the "mods" tab or something). That worked for me, and I imagine it does basically the same thing.

the problem with mine is that when i first go to log in it doesnt ever log in it just freezez and i cant seem to find that radical thing and how do u take little screenshots of your computer screen
Print screen, then paste it wherever you like (I use paint because I'm an amateur).

are you able to log into your screen name? and then not the sever?
