  1. Coming this weekend, I will be doing a server update. Admins will now have a new ability, Friendly Fire! Friendly fire can be turned on for a map. After that map changes, the server will default back to FF=off. If admins wish to continue playing with FF=on, they must turn it on again for each map. Also, reserved slots will be enabled for Armory members only. Admins will also be getting an updated menu. Boom Headshot!
  2. Sorry Darksorrow, I only have my own beta key. I posted a bunch of screenshots this morning, check out this link to my site, http://www.arcadechamp.net/sto Picture 0001 shows my ship which I am not very happy with. I want an ugly reptilian looking ship. So far, we are stuck with Federation standard issue. Picture 0002 shows some random guy that seen me floating off on the other side of Vulcan and he came to visit me. I can't believe he was actually out that far too. Picture 0003 shows the weapon arc for my phasers Picture 0004 shows the weapon arc for torpedoes Picture 0005 shows my ugly character, I am in the bridge of my ship Picture 0006 shows the bridge of my ship. Very boring, and nothing to do there but go right back to tactical mode. Picture 0007 shows me warping off into sector space Picture 0008 shows sector space, warp essentially. In sector space, you are traveling at warp, and you can see other star systems and structures in the terms of Lightyears here. I really like this. It took me about 3-4 minutes to warp from Vulcan to Earth Picture 0009 shows the Sol system where Earth is Picture 0010 shows Earth and the Space Station Picture 0011 I beamed to the Space Station. Here are other player characters inside Picture 0012 Shows the transporter room which is supposed to take you to Earth, but it is sealed at this time Picture 0013 Shows a vendor in the Space Station selling pistols

  4. I just got done playing it. The game is OK, and it is scratching my science fiction MMO itch for the moment, however long or short it may be. In my opinion however, the game is far from finished. Upon logging in, I find an extensive character customization menu. I didn't play around with any of the races, I decided to make my own ugly reptilian freak because with this character I intend on causing destruction and grief to anyone or anything in my way. Well, I didn't get that option. Instead, I was forced onto the Federation side, and then I learn there are only going to be two sides at launch, Federation and Klingon. Ok, so fair enough, I have one choice right now, its beta, so I select Federation. I get a list of 'instances' where the game auto selects and puts me into an instance. I actually submitted a /bug ticket on this. Why break immersion and give me a list of instances? I then end up on a Borg infested ship where I learn the basics of combat. I must say, that ground combat is pretty nice. Moving around, firing weapons, talking, the typical MMO experience is intact and working well. Of course, the ground combat can use some tweaking and upgrades and continual work, but this core game is here, and working well, and fun! This part of the game is very immersive, and there were several times I feared for my safety when hoards of Borg were coming to attack me. Fortunately, my reptilian instincts kicked in where I began to focus and kill them off one at a time, then run away. At this point, I was ready to fly in my ship. I select a Bridge Officer, and head to the teleporter. I watch with glee as my molecules break up into a mass of light and data. *SLAP* The instance list screen pops up again breaking my blissful RP that was flawless again up to this point. Flying in space is intuitive, and graphically very pleasing. Messages pop up on screen, I figure out what to do, I align my ship tactically so I can fire fore and aft weapons simultaneously, etc... I am destroying Borg probes and ships with efficiency. However, there is something missing..... Don't get me wrong, the game is running and playing fairly well, but remember, I am trying to RP here. I find a little hidden button on the screen called "Bridge View". I select it, and there I am loaded into the bridge of my ship. Ahhh, this is what I want, however I find right away that I am bored because I cannot fly the ship from my bridge, and the bridge is closed off, all doors are sealed. Hmmmmm. Is the game unfinished? Maybe. In my opinion, if the game was finished, those doors wouldn't be sealed, and I could control the ship from the bridge. So far, there is only one thing I could interact with on my bridge, and that was the captains chair which puts you right back into "tactical mode" view. There is really nothing to speak of in the bridge. The place where the captain spends most of his time, in the bridge of his ship, and it is empty. Well, luckily I have been browsing the Star Trek MMO forums, and see that the Devs are aware of Bridge View need, and have promised to work on it and to make it fully functional, and even open up the rest of the ship. There is talk of Fleets (guilds) with their own space stations. Well, all that is just talk so far, because I didn't see any signs of them in this Beta. Obviously, the game isn't finished, Cryptic is promising. Lets hope they deliver.

  8. Hey Don. I do agree that Sourcemod has more customization than Mani due to functions loaded via module. However, for our purposes currently, Mani does everything we need. I haven't yet run into a situation where I must have Sourcemod, so I will stick with the easier interface to help make it easier for our clan, well, for now anyway . Besides, modules can be created for Mani if you really want and have the time to do it. I am very hesitant to remove Mani right now. I have spent well over 100 hours of time (low estimate, considering last years mod server) configuring and using Mani over a metamod shell. I have mixed and matched so many different configurations that I could enable VIP, a Halo-esque mod, customizable powerups via old HL2 Deathmatch mode in CS:S without even uploading a single file to the client. Now that is speed . The current configuration package is only around 10MB zipped and it is all server side except for one file, a 26KB Armory logo which gets uploaded to all clients once. If you blink your eyes, you won't even know anything was downloaded
  9. For full documentation on how to use admin, please refer to http://www.mani-admin-plugin.com/mani_admin_plugin/documentation/index.php To access admin, in console type in "admin" To access admin easier, bind a key to admin such as bind ins admin This enables your insert key to bring up the admin menu
  10. On the top of the main armory page is a link to the new Armory server. This is on our own dedicated box and therefore should be stable! It has all the same configuration files as the old server, so all old admin accesses should apply! Good luck and happy fragging!
  11. You don't remember his last motorcycle? He did a slapstick thing or whatever its called on it. Congratulation Shotty, it all sounds good man!
  12. This server sucks too. Got about 14 people in it and once again, lag. I might call my bank about this and see if I can get my money back.
  13. I didn't go through Lonestar, I went through Art of War. I may consider switching to Lonestar once this term is up though, thanks. The new server is up and running by the way.
  14. That is who I am going through, Art of War. Last server I had was flawless, not a single problem. However this time, nothing but problems recently.
  15. Amazing, 3rd server crap in Chicago! They moved me back to Dallas, a new IP! 207.210.252.88:27016
  16. They moved the server to a Chicago datacenter. The new server IP is 75.102.38.124:27015 Please update your favorites list.
  17. They are going to move us again to another box. I will give them credit, at least they aren't having me fill endless tracert requests and such; they recognize that the box is overtaxed. So I will be posting a new server IP again. 3rd box is the charm?
  18. I still haven't received a response back from them. What can I do now? This just isn't right. I paid good money for this, and I get crappy service now. The old server box worked fine for the beginning and all of the sudden one night it turned to crap. This new box is crap. Is there anything I can do?
  19. They are just playing with me. Of course again tonight, the same thing happened. This is not right! I put in another ticket.... Lets see what they come up with now. Total waste of money and time.
  20. Well I got another canned response back from the admin, "I have made some changes to the server this may fix your problems but i will need you to test the server first to let me know how the server is performing if you are still getting lag please inform me what what of lag you are getting so i can work with you on this issue. Thank You" Which is exactly word for word what he said at my first ticket. For some reason now, I don't believe anything was changed but I guess we'll see.
  21. This new server sucks just as much as the old one. The exact same lagging and skipping around. I put in another ticket, I am really pissed now.
  22. The server is now up and appears to be running well, lets see how this new box performs.
  23. Something is not right since the transfer. I am backing up all files and doing a complete re-install. Thankfully this server isn't as complex as the last one. It looks like the server will probably be up by this evening now.
  24. 207.210.253.43:27015 That is the new server IP. This kinda sucks because we have to get people to add us to their favorites again, and we are kind of starting all over but it will happen eventually. Make sure that if you have friends in steam, to let them know to add the new server to their favorites.
  25. We are being switched to another box, as soon as I get the IP address, I'll repost it.
