well the only instances I ran into for the net_sendpacket error had to do with ipx and firewall problems. possible fixes are: Use the parameter -noipx on your game executable. Example: hl.exe -noipx and also could try manually adding your games ports to your firewall. also I found that if you have a linksys router its firewall could be the culprit (not much you could do if thats the case) also if its not a hassle if your using a personal firewall try turning off for just gameplay but turn it on when going back online hope this helps...

It has a bunch of security upgrades that you wont see, they run in the background. If you have it installed still try out the "windows live onecare" that you can use during the beta phase for free. And you'll see more activity in the security areas...
