yes PEI will set up a task force bent on licking all the fish in the Gulf of St.Lawrence! You can see where Souris is and stuff...and how big the Gulf is. I live outside Charlottetown! also note where NB is....

Alright, there's been this big problem going on for quiet some time now, and it could jepordize PEI's (Prince Edward Island's) biggest industry. Last year, there were these seiners from New Brunswick (seiners are really big fishing boats for you city folks) that got the bright idea that "Hey! PEI has loads of herring, why don't we just fish over there?" Fortunatly, there was the fishing boundries to stop them from fishing PEI's precious herring resource. Then, they got another bright idea. Why don't we fish just outside the boundries. It's not like the herring follow these boundries, so we can just catch the ones coming out." So, they did this, and all the fisherman from PEI got really angry. An investigation was started, and it showed that the NB seiners WERE floating inside the boundries, fishing our herring. So, they were told to Cease and Desist and they did, or...kind of. They simply just moved outside the boundries again. But, here's the kicker. Instead of going to their own docks way over in NB, they come to our docks here on PEI, and worse, the Souris wharfs on the Eastren tip of PEI. Souris is a small town, with the largest wharf around. Last year, when they came into the wharf, every was kind of in a slight shock. It was almost like a slap really. Coming into the Souris wharf was like saying, "We're stealing your stuff and you can't do nothing about it." So, soon enough, shock turned the anger, and I think it was around the fifth time they came into the wharf, they were met with a nasty surprise. The fishermen had gathered on the wharf and when the seiners started loading their catch into the trucks, a mini-riot broke out. Not the kind where the throw rocks and stuff, but like a massive sweeping crowd of screaming, angry, fishermen. Riot police were called in, and with their shields, pushed back the angry crowd (which consisted of 40 year olds and up). After that, fishermen started blocking the trucks from leaving the wharf by lying down in the road, then standing around, drinking coffee in on the road that led into the factory or something like that (a place where they take the fish after being caught). The trucks must've been waiting there for at least an entire day as police tried to move the crowd, but the crowd wasn't doing anything wrong, they were hanging around, drinking coffee (Tim Hortons Double Double?) Anyway, the fishing season ended, and everyone gave a sigh of relief, hoping they wouldn't come back next year. This year's fishing season started around Oct 20th. The seiners came in on the 24th with a full load. They were met by just a small crowd of fishermen. The fishermen went to our premier, Patt Bins, and asked him to do something about these seiners. Patt said he'd have a conversation with the NB premier and they'd work something out. This 'conversation' came and went without much change. The NB premier said they were doing nothing wrong. But everyone knew this was totally wrong. PEI fishermen had been reporting since the start of this fishing season about seiners fishing inside the boundries. So, the fishermen got angry again and basically started boycotting the seiners. Stores and gas pumps wouldn't sell anything to any seiner fishermen. Cashiers just ignored them and gas stations turned off their pumps. So, just yesterday, the NB fisheries minister loaded up a truck full of groceries and drove all the way down here to deliver the groceries to the seiners. Fishermen got pissed off and broke out into a massive protest again. The groceries had to be delivered to the seiners by the RCMP what I'm wondering is, if you pissed off so many people last year, why come back! Coming back a second season was really to just piss the PEI fishermen off, like saying, "You can't do nothing about it!" so...thoughts?
