An Update on the Rent a Server feature
So, nothing about needing a shit ton of people to start the match, or anything about being able to adjust multiple types of damage. Ah well. I guess the really bad news is that is just the stuff that's on their list of things to accomplish. We aren't even in reality territory yet.

Hardcore mode
You know there is a problem with hardcore mode when you (me) can and consistently do go from a 4:1 KDR on Argonne and Amiens (No real sniper presence), to a sub 1 to 1:1 KDR on every other map. (all super open, exposed flags, tons of space between points.... 40 snipers on each team of 32 people.... etc). This isn't me somehow only sucking it up with occasional bouts of greatness for no reason. This is me going from a decent shooter game to a literal cycle of spawn/get sniped/spawn/get sniped/spawn/get vehicle killed/spawn/get sniped over and over and over. And I play support 99% of the time, with medic thrown in occasionally if RR is leveling support. The support class. You know, the one with the guns that get better aim the longer you fire? In a game mode where bullets do more damage? And everyone else has guns that act normal, so are accurate right from the first bullet? I've played HC in all the previous battlefields, because it was actually a more skilled version of the base game. HC in BF1 currently is not that. Did the drop to 125% dmg help? Sure, at least now the snipers have to aim a bit again. But with the plethora of wide open maps, running to/capping flags is just a suicide mission with the amount of snipers littering the field. So while they seem to be moving in the right direction for HC to be the funner, more skilled version of the game I won't hold my breath. This is DICE we are talking about. 95% of the company is already working on the next iteration of battlefield or battlefront. It's probably just going to be something only worthy of being called DLC for BF1... (Hey there Hardline!), but it'll be sold as a new separate game. Damn but I sound jaded. Ah well. I guess to sum up my point, I'm hoping HC mode becomes better and better but have no real belief it'll get to where we want. It is completely tied into their RSP admin options. Give us the ability to tweak everything. Stop being stingy fks with your code. Gas dmg? Grenade Dmg? Explosive Dmg? Vehicle HP? Vehicle Spawn rate? (50-100-200% is not options, thats like an on/off switch. Let us put the fking numbers in there!) Class limits, weapon limits, etc etc etc etc.

DICE Asks: How would you improve Battlefield 1?
You focused on everything server related, which is fine because that stuff needs to be fixed (how it is even not standard operating procedure at DICE/EA to make completely customizable rented servers, idk...) I'd throw them a list of in-game shit that is ticking me off though. Why can't I throw packs while crouched? I can while prone or standing. Why do I only get one limpet mine? How in the world would two be overpowered when it takes 3 to kill a light tank, and 2 to kill the basic car? (No instahealing, when you factor in healing it's just lol funny to stand near the tank waiting for limpet reloads.) Here is a server one; Why can't we adjust the damage of things besides bullets? Did DICE forget that there are explosives in the game? Fire? Gas? Anybody home? Why is it that bullet damage across the board is the only option? Wouldn't it have made more sense to keep bullets at 200% dmg and just drop sniper rifles down to 125% to stop the one-shot-kill-on-toes? Why did they break the ability to spawn on your squadmates by clicking the freaking names of your squad in the bottom left corner? ARGGHHHHH. How annoying is it to click each individual green circle on the map to figure out who the fk is who? Can we get a "Hold your breath" button? I don't know about you, but if I was in WW1 and I saw a cloud of yellow gas or a gas grenade start to spew said gas... I'd hold my fking breath until I was clear instead of just la-de-da huffing those fumes while I tried to walk away. And on the subject of gas, can we normalize it so that the first tick/s register more accurately for gas damage? Tired of dying while at or below 30% hp instantly without even seeing gas or hearing my guy wheeze. Why is there an infantry only map (Argonne) but not a vehicle only map? And this is from someone that hates vehicles in this game with a passion. But if you are going to force the vehicle sluts out of their armored one-shot-kill machines for a map, you may as well force everyone INTO tin cans for a map too. MORE CITY MAPS LIKE AMIENS. PERIOD. Fix 15ft cavalry saber kills. Forgot! HC Mode make vehicle disable damage permanent. Tread damage/engine damage/weapon damage/wing damage all stick with the vehicle and not be reppable. At the very least not by the driver from INSIDE the vehicle. (Holy shit what moron thought that would be a good idea to implement?) Probably more I'll think of, but that's off the top of my head.

Hardcore mode
Personally... I think its just an excuse for scouts to be picked constantly. If you look at it, HC just caters to them. One-shot anything, anywhere you hit it with your rifle? Check. Turn off kill cam so your cozy prone position at spawn is safe? Check. Did they bump up damage from explosives? Not that I can see at all. Still looking at 3 Limpets to kill a light tank, and that's if it doesn't self heal. Speaking of self healing... they turned it off for infantry, but vehicles still get it with insta-repairs and holding x. My opinion is that track/engine/wing damage shouldn't be fixable in HC. Support gun damage, even with a 200% boost, is still laughable compared to any other weapon set. 27*2=54 per bullet. Shotguns were already at 100+ no matter what they state, bolt action medic rifles are a 2 shot in HC from what Roadrunner tells me, SMGs seem to do good damage and shoot quick as can be. So yea, support with the relatively slow-firing, recoil decrease as you hold down the trigger mechanic really get hosed in HC. Can I still do well? Sure, on any map that doesn't have only wide open spaces (Argonne, Amiens, Fort if up in the Fortress). Everything else is just spawn and die to a sniper bullet over and over, and the only annoying thing about that is it doesn't have a to be a GOOD shot. And they took away hero classes. Which is good. Since those are from Battlefront and have never been a part of Battlefield until now. Good riddance. Even though setting people on fire is SO FKING EXQUISITE. But really, besides making scouts have wet dreams, HC is just a bag of broken mechanics at present.

An Open Letter to Alexander Hassoon, Rent-A-Server Producer
It honestly blows my mind that he is convinced more options for server administrators equals a worse experience for regular users. Just... wow. I'm hoping that is just the way he was told to spin this from a PR standpoint, and that he didn't actually join a server that kicked him for using explosives and instantly decided admins should not have any power. How hard is it to switch to another server? Did that experience ruin said game for him forever? I mean really? Of course some morons are going to abuse the power of their admin privileges... but who gives a shit? They pay for that server that they are turning into a ghost town. More power to them. Giving communities less options is not the answer to that issue. I can already see the next Battlefield title (after the interim title that should be a mod and nothing more <looks at BFH>) only allowing quickmatches. That'd make this my last BF purchase.
