2. It's not enough to power a home, just a few appliances. And there's a limit to how many extension cords you can plug in and how long they can be. I offered a couple neighbors to come inside, but they declined.

Today, 30 people got let go. Most of them were deadwood, so it's not that big of a loss, but they were all in my department. They announced that there were no more layoffs planned, but I don't believe them. We will see.
4. you can get them as small as you want
5. Glad you're okay. We don't see many tornadoes in WV, but I saw my share of them in MS. Never liked them. I lived through Katrina. 98% of the city was without power. Nobody in my neighborhood had a generator. I had a gas-fired welder with 110 receptacles. It put out dirty power, but it was good enough to run a little window unit, tv, dvd player, and a fridge. It was pretty loud and all my neighbors had all their windows open, hoping for a breeze, and all they heard all day was a constant reminder that I was comfortable inside, watching movies, and drinking cold beer. It took a couple weeks for the gas situation to straighten out. As each filling station got power, everyone would flock to it and it would empty. Most people waited in line for a couple hours. I had enough gas in my garage to get me through.

Weapon finds it hard to believe I do much more than Will Ferrel in Step Brothers, so I thought I would post some details on my current project. Here it is: The Goethals Replacement Bridge project, flanking spans, back spans , main spans, and tower anchorage. Below is a link to the web cam. The bridge runs from Elizabeth, NJ to nowhere, Staten Island. Here's a news story with a rendering of the bridge once constructed. Here's a link to a news story about a precast girder falling. The precast girders are part of the approaches and not in my scope. Fortunately nobody was hurt. And here's a link to the web cam's, courtesy of the Port Authorities of NY and NJ. You can pan and zoom with your mouse. This line of work is very shitty. I don't like it, but it's where I am for now.
7. Bought this a few days ago. My desk has a glass top and I always seem to be running out of space. Plus the glass shows any kind of dirt or smudge. It's paper-thin and I like it. There are other styles available. Personally, I like the map. The one I got is 24" x 36", but you can get smaller ones.
8. That's an angry airplane. I always liked them.
9. I just took a dump and I named it "Beretta".

By the way, Weapon, did an Egyptian take that picture of Morgan?

Chomp! So, I'm watching Ulee's sister, Kona, this week. She's a cutie and a sweetie. She has a moderate-high drive, so she's always on the move, but she minds what I say. She belongs to the breeders (she was a give back from the woman who bought her because she couldn't keep up with her and the kids). The breeders want me to take her because they say 3 GSD's is too much. Not sure what I'll do. I don't want another dog at this time, but she's a wonderful little girl and I would hate for her to go to some unknown family. Ulee is on the bed and Kona is on the deck.

My older dog's hips when out when he turned 12. His name was Flint. At first it wasn't too bad and then it got worse. The meds helped and he was generally happy, but last Thanksgiving I had to put him down. He was an extremely smart dog, but there's no way to explain how smart he was unless you knew him. I guess it's kind of like explaining a dream to someone - the details aren't as fantastic as you remember them. He knew how to ask for his pills when his hips started to hurt and I'll leave it at that. Great dog. Tough as an axe handle. Never saw him back down. His face was very expressive. He knew what I was thinking and I knew what he was thinking. Ulee is a cool dog, but he's no Flint, sadly. Flint is a lab/GSD(?) mix. Attached is a video of Flint shortly after getting Ulee as a puppy. He's chewing on a toy that the breeder gave me, saying it was Ulee's favorite. The first thing Flint did was take it away form Ulee. Watch as Flint's eyebrow and upper lip as Ulee walks next to Flint.

His mother is a long hair GSD and his father is a slightly shorter than that standard length fur GSD. Both have direct West German show dog bloodlines. He's simply a plush GSD. He hasn't been weighed for sometime, but I would estimate his weight to be in the upper 80's. 150 is pretty big.

I see Patches has a GSD. Thought I would start a thread with pics. Here's mine. His name is Ulee (short for Ulysses - hardly anyone gets that)> He's a great dog, but not near as smart as my old dog, Flint, RIP (who I didn't post pictures of). Some young, some older.
15. Ernst Udet was a very skilled flyer in Germany between the wars and ended up as Generaloberst (Colonel General) in the Luftwaffe. Here's a video of some of his flying. And while biplanes generate a lot more lift that monoplanes, his skills are impressive nonetheless. The video is a documentary on Udet and it's very long, so here are the Cliff's Notes: At 7:55 he picks up a piece of cloth with his wingtip. Then at 8:05 he turns off his engine, does a loop, and then flies sideways as he lands. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itmAdu7xsWU
