  1. Good idea. The infinite scroll feature was making it hard to find some of the stuff on the bottom of the webpage via mobile.
  2. Season 2 of Discovery is coming and the trailer is posted.
  3. It's official, the next patch will be a crossover with Rainbow 6 Seige. Details on the video below. Full details set to release on July 23. Looks like Doc will be coming in to Recon as predicted based on
  4. I know, you were hoping for Tank 2.0.
  5. This image showed up on the forums. Looks like a new medic class and some sort o biohazard class too. The scuttlebutt on the Ubisoft forums is that the icon for the new medic is the same as Doc on R6Siege. This could indicate an in-combat heal ability rather than drone res. The biohazard is unknown as of yet, but speculations are around toxic gas grenades or some sort of toxic effect. Some drew thoughts about lesion mines from R6Siege.
  6. Things keep changing for us in Ghost Wars (and other games). We are inviting new players onto our teams and our traditional pairings have been getting shuffled around. I wanted to take a moment to remind all of us (including me) about the importance of communication in our favorite squad-based games. It is the key to a well-coordinated team and separates us from the pugs. I know we are all guilty of the occasional tunnel vision for our intended target or take a stealth maneuver too far when we keep it hidden even from our own team. So as we work to gel in new forms, I wanted to point out some tips/reminders for communication that should help us do a bit better. Feel free to add more onto this thread if you think of any. 1. Communicate what you are doing. None of us can read your mind, so take a moment to give us a clue as to what you are planning. We might know about an unseen threat or need a moment to cover your position. Call out where you are going, status of your drone (if you have one), angles you are holding, and if you're going to toss a nade/blow something up. It doesn't require anything particularly fancy, just a few words will do. In my parlance, you might hear "pushing tower," "drone," and "holding yellow building." 2. Clearly call out threats. This seems simple, but when you've got the eyes for blood, this sometimes gets lost. Like before, keep it short and simple, but also remember to declare the accuracy of your information too. People are going to act on your call out, so be sure they know if it's a nebulous gut feel, an approximate ping ("I hear someone over here"), or an exact mark. Also, dont let your greed get in the way of team victory. Even if you plan to shoot the call out anyway, let folks know. We don't need someone dying because your intended target sends a volley at a teammate who didn't know your target's location. Also, dont forget to make call outs even in death. Even shot angle can assure proper revenge occurs. 3. Listen and pay attention. This one seems simple, but it is one that goes sideways quickly in a firefight. Look to see where your teammates actually are on occasion. Watch your minimap for key patterns about enemy and ally position. Keep track of call outs and intended movements to plot your next move. And most importantly, be adaptable, do not panic and don't let fear get the better of you. We have all had that moment where we had a plan in mind, maybe even executing it, and the rest of the team starts collapsing. We know you aren't a hero, but it's also not the time to go YOLO either. If you're paying attention and the team is communicating, you may be able to slip in and pull a lost cause scenario out from certain defeat. 4. Be realistic in your expectations. We all have different play styles and capabilities. Some of us drone better, some of us kill better, and some of us move better. Not everyone can pull off what you think or know is possible. They have to do it in their own way. Not every situation is winnable given the information we had. Take a deep breath, play on, and use constructive feedback to help us all get a little better at whatever you may be good at. 5. Careful with idle chatter. The importance of hearing enemies in Ghost Recon is paramount and is the difference between life and death on many occasions. Keep communication to the essentials when your teammates are creeping around enemy territory. Your thoughts on game mechanics in the middle of a battle might just get a teammate killed. I know we know all of these things, but I wanted to bring it back to the forefront as we stretch our muscles to play with new people. It's all too easy to get used to the implicit communication that goes on between seasoned teammates.
  7. I feel like they went all in on the PvP experience with adding some of the features in this update, but I'm waiting to see the patch notes and play the result. Little miffed they are hiding the PvE portion for pass holders for a week. Still won't get me to buy one.
  8. Here it is! The initial announcement of new goodness coming. It looks like we will now have daily challenges in Ghost War along with a prestige credit store. Also, Snow Map! We are also getting a new challenge mode in PvE to take things to the limits. One gun. Permadeath. Realistic reloads. Release Date July 24. EDIT: Confirmed crossover with Rainbow Six Siege as the theme. Read more here...
  9. Good article(s). It was fascinating seeing the pick rate and stats for the operators. They showed the defense ones on an attached article about the proposed patch. Axle, you are going to have to pick up your Rook game with his insanely better than average win rate. I apparently need to change my mains to ones that aren't trash. The updates should be interesting though. Alibi needs to get knocked down a peg for sure. I'm a little sad to see Thatcher take a nerf but I can see their point. Some of the classes are definitely must haves. I wish they would display these stats for Recon. Of course, it would show a strong favor for certain classes. The Scout is a must. The Tank/Pointman is a must. The Sniper/Sentinel rule Marksman. I'm sure they run the data, but the balancing for class variety there is way off lately.
  10. Well, I'm not sure if this is good news in the PC Gaming sales world or not, but Ubisoft saw PC sales again top the XBox sales. Playstation is still dominating both groups with 38% percent of Ubisoft's market share. I do think this is lending creedence to the PC gaming market isn't dead. I just wish some of the other publishers weren't so defeated in their outlook on the PC market. 11. I was hoping for so much more from this game. Hell, even using the DLC to fix the totally derailed and on fire train wreck that is PvP would have been nice. I've little hope things will get better for this game. It is a shame because some fast paced fun would have been a nice reprieve from the tactical shooter options we are all gravitating towards.
  12. It looks like Martians can't save FarCry 5 from more negative reviews. PCGamer dishes out a 50/100 for the add-on. It basically described the DLC as a repetitive grind and only meagerly fun for those enjoying a penis joke or two and the ramblings of Hurk from the main campaign. The new weapons got a pass too. Link below to the PCGamer article. Far Cry 5: Lost on Mars review | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM Keep your ass off Mars. Making me glad I skipped the season pass here.
  13. It is like Windows 9. It just never happened.
  14. It looks like Ubisoft has upped the ante on hate speech in Rainbow Six Siege. Toxic text chat involving racial slurs, homophobic comments, and the like will get you an instant ban now. According to PC Gamer, the chat will be seen by all, but you're instantly banned from playing any portion of the game for 27 minutes on the first offense, 2 hours for the 2nd, and an additional 2 hours for the third with a formal investigation into a possible permanent ban. And they mean all portions of the game - not even terrorist hunt is available during a ban, unlike the team kill sit out. This just went into effect the last week. It shouldn't impact any of us because the guidelines against that kind of speech are the same here. 15. Update. The connectivity issues are back again. Ghost Recon and Far Cry are on the list.
  16. I have noticed their rebranding lately. Guess I should have seen this coming. I hope TS5 brings the features they desperately need to compete. Mainly, ease of use and web interface options that Discord is murdering them on. Here's to hoping TS can fight back.
  17. Given they are only nuking 600 boosted players on this first ban wave, the criteria must be pretty specific. I'd wager they are looking at folks consistently running with the same cheaters and who are getting more than a modest bump from their colleague. Depending on the cheater, I'm sure many try to keep it under the radar lest they face shaming from their friends and fans. Sadly, I think with some, they are going to have to go the legal route to slow things down. You're going to think twice if one possible outcome is an injunction banning you from internet gaming with a financial penalty.

  19. Looks like we aren't the only ones noticing some more egregious problems with the Tech. A new thread popped up on the Ubisoft forums reporting drones unaffected by the jammer. Ubisoft is looking into the problem, but just food for thought in selecting the class. Also, looks like the latest speculation for the patch drop is July 17. It's tied to the date the recycle of the predator event ends in PVE. Read the full post here...
  20. Wow, nice. I hope they bring the same zeal to their other products as well. Anti-cheat is so important to a viable pvp experience. I'm glad they are also going after the "clean" folks trying to ride on the coattails of known cheaters. Even better news (in the full article) is the efforts to negate the impact of cheaters on your stats when they get banned. I think that will play a huge role in undermining the reason for cheating for at least the troll type. Get caught and you're erased from having mattered (at least in the stats).

Sadly, replicating the technique isn't easy. We were able to put proxy mines on a drone, but not C4. Maybe further testing still result in death from above, but without a lot of practice, this is going to be a tough one to implement routinely. Oddly enough, there seems to be a bug where putting proxy mines on an enemy drone and then blowing them up results in the damage going to the drone pilot. Happens even if the drone is down.

Haha. But then I will not be able to wall bang them into oblivion. I guess I'll just have to settle for my C4 going for a fast ride on your drones...

Saw this is in the Ubisoft forums... original post by DesertDog. Apparently, you can stick things to drones, like C4, and mail delivery the payload to someone's face. Not usually a problem for us, since we shoot most drones down, but something to watch. Scout drones move pretty fast and you won't see a noisemaker drone. We may need to test this in a custom match with obvious analogues too. Like, can you do it with proximity mines and trapper stun shots. Not advocating we use this in game against live opponents, but knowing the patch cycle, I bet it doesn't get addressed in the July patch. I'm going to rage if I get C4ed in a bush by a noisemaker...
  24. I'm excited but also know it will bring back a wave of the usual not-so-legit crowd.
  25. Looks like PUBG is creating more havoc for themselves by joining the event pass bandwagon. I'm not sure how I feel about these "pay to play more for loot" schemes. They seem better than loot crates but not by much. I wish they would stop with charging so much for cosmetic changes and provide new content instead. Any thoughts on the Event Pass from our PUBG players?
