The developers of WW3 posted their Devlog this weekend for the first time. It explains their mission and what went wrong (master servers were overwhelmed). They are beginning to lay out their road map for this game. This includes a patch this week, one later this month and one in December. They also included how to report cheaters and that they are actively banning people. 3. I know a few of you all enjoy vaping while gaming. Looks like the FDA is taking a heavy swing at the e-cig market to combat youth usage. The new proposed restrictions on selling the devices/fluids may change the landscape. Looks like the candy-like flavors are under fire. F.D.A. There was no sign of it yesterday. Hopefully soon.
  5. That is one hell of a patch. I'm excited.
  6. So. Wrong.
  7. I take it as a check and balance on the rose colored glasses that we put on when seeing the marketing material from a company. EA (and other gaming companies) have been trying new money making methods lately and their stock performance is one way we can see how those pan out. I dont think this will change minds on an individual game purchase, but it helps those of us who use this information in our purchasing decisions. I personally dont like throwing money at a company that hasn't learned its lessons from money grubbing techniques. That being said, falling stock prices may give us warning that EA will either be doubling down on fees/transactions to raise revenues or it may be getting more innovative. A guide post to potential future moves by a large company that many of us keep a close eye on for our daily entertainment needs. This is no different than when Ubisoft just had to fess up that they do not have the staff to support all of their titles any more. Crazy for a company of that size to say that. Will I still buy Ubisoft? Yes. Will I consider which games have the best chance for ongoing support in choosing which games? Yes. We need to know the good, bad and ugly.
  8. I noticed this yesterday when playing a solo round. Not sure if anyone else ran across this too. If you're scoped in and press Z, you're character will change from stand, to crouch, to probe with each toggle. Helps to keep your eye on the prize while taking nee positions.
  9. The automatic shot gun (VEPR) is super powerful in this game. Even through some of the optimization issues, you can 1-2 tap your victims even at a moderate range. Highly recommend running this as a secondary weapon. Also, don't forget the bipod reduces recoil by 90 percent when you are prone. Turn those LMGs into laser beams with the right positioning.
  10. Ubisoft. Ghost Recon and The Division have similar if not longer load times.
  11. Now that we have a couple of days of usable combat time out of World War 3, I thought I would start a thread to chart our favorite gun, strike and accessory choices. Even with the limited choices on guns, the game has a dizzying array of configurations and options. Post about your favorite finds to help others joining us get a successful start or those of us who are still stumbling in the dark. Some initial thoughts from me are below. Guns: TOR sniper rifle with SWAT scope. Guaranteed kill in one shot unless you hit an armor plate (or lag). Enough said. Both shotguns are also amazing choices with decent range. They are fast firing, high damage and with enough spread to ensure those armor plates dont absorb every pellet. Strike: Flying Eye. This gives your teammates a mini-map and spots on nearby enemies. A little hard to deploy but seeing how many enemies are concentrated on a point can make or break a push. Secondary Item: Med/Ammo Bag. Very helpful for keeping your squad alive and armed.
  12. After playing more than one round tonight, I really liked the game. There was a solid ebb ans flow going on the Warsaw map. No parts of the maps felt the same and all had open environments, building warfare, and creative nooks and crannies. Some spaces felt a little too open, but as Axlerod mentioned, those can be overcome with some heavy support. The gun play is just fun. The guns handle well with solid mechanics. Pistols are lethal as are shotguns. You can create any mashup of guns in a character you want (with some weight issues). This bolts onto an interesting system that let's you create the character you want/need without classes. Want to be a medic? Carry a medbag to throw down in the field but still carry nades and a LMG if you want. It's fluid and fun. Definitely needs some balancing along with getting all of the network issues resolved. Personal and vehicle movement need to feel more real. Flying the drones in this game are tough. The armor plates are frustrating at times. I can't wait to have the connectivity issues resolved so we can get onto meaningful updates over the next year.
  13. I got in today as well. Loved the game play but only got to play one full round. The gun play is solid. The movement is good. Lots of nice tradeoff between heavy and light choices for kits. The movement still needs a little bit of fluidity to it, but I was able to kill some guys in between getting nuked by those damn tanks. Not used to avoiding large scale weapon fire after Recon. More patches tonight guys with server maintenance to hopefully fix this.
  14. We need every advantage to get ahead of you on the kill count after Ghost Recon.
  15. Here is to hoping for no lag, but you know some people are going to try for that advantage.
  16. Just a reminder that the game launches sometime around noon today. So long as the servers hold up, a good number of us will be playing tonight. It's time to go to war.
  17. I'm really excited to see the backup offset iron sights make an appearance. Nothing like the best of both worlds for aiming. Saw a few streamers run these in EFT. I'm also liking what I see in terms of implementation so far. Looks like squads making up a side. Itll be interesting to see how that works for matchmaking and the like. If you're interested in this game, I'd watch that video. It was probably the most neutral and informative piece I've seen... be warned, there are some cringeworthy potato aim moments from the narrator.
  18. I'm not sure the guy is dogging on the game so much as he's giving an honest opinion. A lot of early access games and even some AAA titles are really struggling on the net code side of the game. This is a small group and it is about on par with what I expect. Escape from Tarkov has similar issues but has been getting better with every patch in tightening net code and server responsive ess. They went from huge desync issues to a playable game. I'm excited to see a gun customization that matches Escape from Tarkov. I've never been happier with a gun I could put together over in that game. It really did make a difference in your lethality in figuring out your best set up without it being a straight stat/number game that you see in like Recon. I'm looking forward to trying a game a little off the beaten path for a fresh take on a familiar genre. At the very least, it may send ripples into the newer AAA titles. I guess we will know on Friday.
  19. This really pains me to see because Command and Conquer is a game series I grew up on. I spent hours playing Red Alert and modding it too. I owned many of the titles. Now, EA is taking the franchise down a dangerous path. The latest addition to the series is a mobile phone game involving point capture wrought with microtransactions. It is a mediocre game they skinned with the franchise IP. Now an EA Producer is saying they want to remaster the original games because they "heard the community." Based on some of the comments I am reading and my own personal feelings, that is not the case. The community is looking for a re-entry into the PC market, not a micro transaction retread. I know some remasters have done well, like Microsoft revisiting Age of Empires. The games certainly look beautiful in comparison to the originals. It is just hard to justify $30+ for a retread RTS I already played to death. It's like Nintendo continuing to resell NES games on newer platforms. I hope they do the right thing in either letting the series die or giving it a proper title release. EA teases Command & Conquer remasters, wants to know what you think | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM Producer Jim Vessella acknowledged that C&C: Rivals isn't entirely what fans were looking for.
  20. They did a stress test in September for 3 waves of lucky folks who were chosen ay random. This was the only opportunity to play free. They are following up with the immediate release of the early access. This is their form of an active beta.
  21. Ya. The team randomizer was certainly a brutal mistress at times.
  22. Looks like the walls keep crumbling with Sony moving forward with allowing crossplay between consoles on Fortnite. The beta process begins today. Sony enabling Fortnite cross-play for PS4 against Xbox and Switch - The Verge WWW.THEVERGE.COM Sony backs down in a new policy change.
  23. Last night marked a long overdue custom match battle to the death between clan members in Ghost Recon. Our favorite maps (including Coca Farm), settings, and bragging rights for who did better in the bush. I think we all found that shooting Axlerod in the face came with its own reward too... like that time he found my sniper bullet through two windows and a door on Scrapyard. As we approach the release of some new games, it may be fun to repeat this night again a few times before some of us move on to other games for a bit. If you're interested, please feel free to reply below with some good times/days of the week to set up another 4v4 clan war. Feel free to throw in your best moments of killing Axlerod too... or Covah, RabidRebel, Kurinar, Levi (Mister), Tydarius, Jenksterman, or Portector.
  24. World War 3 is receiving coverage from the gaming news outlets about its upcoming early access release. The release date, again, is October 19 and it will be $28. The initial release will have the Warzone (conquest-ish) and Recon (team Battle Royale with conquest points) modes. Early Access is anticipated to last 12-15 months. RSP is not anticipated for awhile, but the devs have said they hear the community demand for this program. Multiplayer FPS World War 3 begins Early Access next month | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM It'll cost $28 when it comes out on October 19. There is a contingent of TAC folks gearing up for this game. Give it a look along with BF V. Both games are a return to large 64-player battles.
