Sounds good. so when it hangs. it just freezes up at that loading screen right. where its trying to load ur settings etc? I know i had an external sound card. and it would lock up at the same place. then i switched to onboard and everything worked fine. hopefully that was it.

i think they mean the steam content servers. But yeah when u uninstalled steam did u delete any files? i find a lot of the time when steam craps out. deleting the clientregistry.blob file. then launching steam and allowing it to update and install a new clientregistry. helps out. i think when it does this it checks files to make sure everything is correct. is it still happening? as i noticed the last post was a couple weeks ago

nice guide unwanted. im gonna try game accelerator tonight. what kind of ram do you have pc2700? another 512 stick would probably increase performance quite nicely. also the command cl_lagcompensation i have that set to 0 when set to 1 this command seems to try to compensate for any little amount of lag and ends up just making it worse. give that one a try. set it to 0also i use the ati cat 4.12 beta drivers. the creator optomized them for the hl2 engine boosted my fps by 10fps in css and hl2 will always fluxate its in the engine. it was the same in the early days of 1.6 if anyone can remember. people we constantly _____ing about low fps. it will be better with time :Dhey shotty you're using an lcd screen im guessing eh

I agree go with the amd64, but make sure that if you do. go with the socket 939. The product that you linked us to. Wont allow for much or any upgrading at all. i currently have an amd64 3500+ s939 with the asus a8v deluxe. I couldnt be more happyi currently have it overclocked to better the 3800+ speeds with no problems whatsoever. but yes do let us know what ur budget is. and what parts you need. cpu, mobo, ram will cost between 400 - 700 dollars us. depending on quality or size etc.
