I am trying to get the Highway Tampa patch, but every time I install it and start the game, a window pops up that says a patch is available at EA Link. I click the button and it brings me to EA Store. I am out of ideas guys, please help. :D

Where did you download the patch from? And at what time?

From the Multiplay at about 8:30 tonight (MST).

Hmm...I'm not sure then. The reason I asked was because when the patch was first released this morning some sites had bad files, so people were getting error messages that said the server was running a newer version. You can go into the BF2142 directory and verify that the map is actually in the map folder, if all else fails you can try downloading it from the website and try re-patching the game.

What EA B.S. is this now? I patch the game with the 1.40 from our site and it says every time I start the game that there is a patch available and it won't let me play after I just patched it and restarted. LOL. GG EA AGAAAAAAIN.

I think uninstall is the next move.

Now, I check the EA forums and find this.

 

1. Must un-install the entire game and all files associated with it.

2. Re-install the main game.

3. Install the downloaded file for 1.40 from the link above.

4. (If you have NS expansion) Install now.

5. Install the downloaded 1.40 patch again. (Still must do this to get NS to work.)

 

IF this is the case, I will delete the whole damn thing and send the CDs directly back to EA and tell them to F off.

I'm not a violent man or impatient, even, but this is ridiculous.

If I am wrong about this then I apologize in advance.

Na I know what you guys are talking about I dl'd it this morning and when I hit run nothing happened I waited about 10 minutes but still nothing so I deleted the patch and tried again and it finally worked. Plus I didn't even dl the final version I spent about an hour trying to find it but all the files where crap so I just dl'd version 3 and it works. Man an Hour and Half wasted cause EA can't launch anything properly. Plus Tampa blows balls on Assault Lines it's way better on Titan Mode. The new shotgun is nice but I still fire at the same rate of the old Clark hahahaha I got used to the timing oh well I think I might retire from 2142 and stick to COD4 and Quake Wars.

EA is run by meth-addicted monkeys. Cossu I hope your work will someday help them.

I even did an IP search to no avail.

...And this is why I decided to stop playing 2142. I didn't even download the new patch.

 

Sorry...off topic, but couldn't resist since it's the same old EA BS that we've complained about for a while now.

Is it really that hard to get a patch to work? Or does EA hire the dumbest/cheapest people they can find(See Doc's post for clarification).

I don't know what to do anymore cause i wanna download the patch and if is not working i will start blaming/cursing/swearing EA.I'll take the shot and hope that is working.

I get the same message, however my game play is not affected by it in anyway and Tampa is installed and I play it without any problems so I say simply click cancel and play away........

Well I installed the 1.40 patch (actually reinstalled then patched) and the only servers I can play on are EA's beta servers.

 

It's still saying I have an older version, and I can't get any other servers to come up. Most annoying...

 

Any help would be appreciated as I've flat run out of ideas as to how to fix it.

Best advice would be to uninstall/reinstall, and then reapply the patch. If you have Northern Strike, you will need to "install game - install patch 1.4 - install Northern Strike - Install Patch 1.4 again"

 

You can also access the registry as shown here, and look for an entry that shows version 1.28, and change the number to 1.25, and then reapply the patch. :klinked:

They released an older patch on v1.4 release day, so many of us downloaded/uploaded an old patch to our websites. Once this was discovered, a newer patch was upload to our web server, and is now always available for your convienance. The patch on our site is the "correct" version, and will always be available here if you ever need it. :klinked:

Try this, because i had almost the same problem, try seeing if the new version is the complete downloaded size, because you MIGHT think it's installed but for some reason the window from where you are downloading it, is slow and sometimes at the end, breaks and it's not complete at about 98% or 99%. Hope this helps guys:cool: :klinked:

And be sure you ERASE FOR GOOD the patch b4 you download it again.
