heyyy i just read an article about hydrogen batteries.

1. (amount of power produced from 1 of these batteries / cost to produce a battery) is significantly > (power from hydrocarbons/ costs)

2. the by-product of manufacturing hydrogen gas from natural gasses is CO^2.... carbon dioxide...its not exactly the same as the black stuff that comes out of ur cars exhaust (carbon monoxide) but isnt that the stuff they're trying to avoid?

3. hydrogen....Hindenburg....big hydrogen xplosion! hydrogen....car crash....big hydrogen xplosion! it may not be realistic but it still strikes fear into the heart of mortal men.

all this stuff im recalling from memory of sumting i read lsat week so some of the details might be inaccurate

well i think the hydrogen that was in the hindenberg was in its gaseous state... I'm not sure if when its in the liquid state if it reacts the same way or not it would have to be something that we would have to investigate... It is a little disconcerting though, having a big high pressure tank of hydrogen in the back of your car... But nonetheless its about damn time.

I just can't wait for the first few Drunk driving Hydrogen bomb accidents to happen... should make for some good video.

Honestly though, as far as safety is concerned I'm sure they will do alot to ensure the protection of those tanks before its mass produced to sell to the consumer base.

Nah I didn't see it either gator.. The problem is that its only available in Southern Cali due to the fact that they dont have any filling stations outside of cali.

Yeah if I wasn't really happy with the car I own now I would definitely look into one.

1. by product of breaking down water (H2O) to get the hydrogen, is oxygen.. its initial expense.. it will get cheaper and easier as technology advances.

2. CO (monoxide) will form CO2 anyway.. and if you have a car thats less than 25 years old likelyhood is you will have a catalytic converter which converts CO and NO to CO2 and NO2.

3. There are huge tankers of liquid hydrogen running around... they are made to be strong.. and there is actually more of an explosion from the gas tank in your car..

Interesting, thanks for the insight
