Posted January 18, 200817 yr If you could only have either Battlefield 2142 or Battlefield 2, which would it be? Why? Does the Armoury play one more than the other?
January 18, 200817 yr Get the Battlefield 2 pack with SF and all the packs. It costs about 39.00, but is well worth it.
January 18, 200817 yr We still get the 2142 server going now and then, some poeple play BF2 as well. I would get BF2, it wasn't rushed out.
January 18, 200817 yr Well I just did a fresh format and XP install I started it about 4 hours ago, went shopping, that's why its taking so long. Anyway, I'm only gonna install ETQW and BF2:SF, TF2 may come later.
January 19, 200817 yr i think both bf2 & bf2142 are both great games but, bf2142 has some many crashes 4-5 times a day, so i think bf2
January 19, 200817 yr Author looks like bf2 wins! anyone from the 2142 side want to lay down some arguments?
January 19, 200817 yr unlocks are cool for a 1st time experience i like the futuristic feel of it 2142 is a little newer...better graphics and such. titan mode is always a nice distraction.
January 19, 200817 yr Quake Wars! As far as battlefield, I'd go with 2142. I just like the concept of the game. BF1942 is my all time favorite game. Quake Wars is my game now and the Armory server is doing well, COD4 is kinda boring compared to Quake, team play and communication is key just like 2142. The first week you will be a noob but once you figure everything out it's awsome.
January 19, 200817 yr Author Enemy Territory: Quake Wars! I didn't even think of that. I enjoyed the demo, so that makes sense. The problem is, I have a $20 Amazon gift card here. 2142 fits well into it. BF2, I would have to pony up another $20. ET:QW, I would have to hit up $30 more. Here's a question: How safe is it to buy from amazon.com's "New and Used" link. In essence, is it safe to buy a multiplayer online game used?
January 19, 200817 yr New and Used section is essentially like Ebay. The people that sell on there have their own little businesses going. I have bought numerous items from these people including games, DVD's and even a very expensive fishing reel (?170 to be exact) and have had no problems with payment, delivery etc
January 19, 200817 yr What wellsy said, it's like ebay but a bit better. I've boughten a few things off of it, not online games though, but I would say it's safe. I wouldn't even consider 2142 to be honest, BF2 wins easily. Maybe get QW if your up for something different.
January 19, 200817 yr Author The main thing that makes me wonder is the CD key. I don't like someone else knowing it; what's to stop that person from saying he owns the game at a later date, and "proving" it with an old picture of the game/key? I mean, sure, maybe it's a rare occurrence, but I'M the guy it WOULD happen to!
January 19, 200817 yr quakewars is selling for 30bucks here in canada as for 2142 cdkeys, stolen keys are always a problem with preowned games. thats the risk for buying it cheaper i suppose... i could tell u how the cdkeys work and u could try figure somethign out of it. 2142 cdkeys are registered to a computer, not ur account. so i could log into my account on a frends computer and such but if 2 accounts try to log into 1 cdkey, it will disconnect both users and a notice that the cdkey is in use will show up. u could keep a reciept? proof of purchase?

It may say "Still in wrapping" etc Also, i believe that because Amazon make the payment on your behalf (you pay Amazon then they sent it to the seller) they have the ability to cancel the payment if the goods turn out to be faulty.
January 20, 200817 yr Bf2 is definitely the better game, Bf2142 just feels... wrong, despite the very few things that are an improvement over BF2. If you liked Firearms Bf2 is the way to go, it has alot of the infantry feel of old FA, more so than Bf2142. BF2 still has a ton of players & servers too, and quite a few mods that are out as well. Imo, if EA was still developing and working on BF2 instead of trying to rake in the cash on other lame projects ( untill BF3 comes anyway ), it would still be #1 as far as I'm concerned. Cod-4 is pretty nice too, but has more of a CS feel to it I guess, and you need a pretty beefy computer to run it well.
February 1, 200817 yr I think both games have pros and cons. Bf2 when it came out had serious bug issues that just never seemed to go away until the last patch that bf2 put out, but by that time 2142 was coming out, i think the balance between air and ground in bf2 was ....well not balanced at all, AA weapons sucked in bf2 and Jets where way to powerful, if you had a good pilot on your team, then it wasnt to bad, but i thought it was ridiculous. I think the SF expansion was the shit, best expansion for a game i ever played since Q2, loved the night maps and grapple hooks, etc. really enjoyable. Thought weapon balance in bf2 could use a little tweaking, the shotguns sucked and the only gun IMO that felt like it didnt take a whole clip to kill was G3. For 2142, weapon balance seemed to be better, and balance between Air and Ground is a lot better, i aint constantly being Air rapped. But the maps just didnt seem to be as fun, and as mention before, something about bf2 just seemed to be a lot more fun. Big thing i like about 2142, less bugs in the release of 2142, i havent really ever had a crashing problem with 2142. I think the Future thing is what makes 2142 fall under bf2. I am more about realism. One thing i wish both games would do is get the weapon damage like in games such as GRAW or COD4, only takes a couple bullets, not a couple clips.
February 1, 200817 yr I've been playing Quake Wars exclusively since it came out in October. I never really liked CoD4 multiplayer. RagingRedneck;249944']I think both games have pros and cons. You should try Project Reality Mod for BF2.
