Ok Heres my rig in my dorm room

Nice to see someone else with a clear another clear rig, don't really see them around much anymore. Now I Need to replace the side panel on mine to get rid of some fan holes... Heh Any Lights In yours?

heres the water cooling that went along with it

I left it at home so I had more room

http://www.thearmory.cc/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=423&d=1118946011

I made that case from scratch

it uses two heatercores and 4 120mm fans that got at 5v 12v or 24v (over volted :D )

the box at the top used to keep most of my spare wires (since you just cant tuck them because you can see everywhere

its gotten a little messy with me adding so many extra hard drives I need to redo it

all the fans use a 3.5mm phono (headphone jack) for power and I could add up to 8 things that just use 12v

on the bottom (a little tough to see) there are 2 extra 3 prong mic plugs that can run anything that regular 12v 5v ground molexs run like hard drives or cd drives

but ya you can buy clear cases some of them are actually pretty cheap

Mines a C3 case a little more pricy but the build quality is much nicer

Oh I forgot the best part

I dont have a fan grill on the front because well I like the idea of spinning sharp things with no protective coverings I think its like supercharged Darwinism

(you wouldnt believe how many people go is there no fan grill ..... slowly moves finger in. Ah it doesnt have a fan grill.... I'm bleeding.)

Yes it has made people bleed

also here is my vapor phase change cooler (still in the process of building it)

it works like a refrigerator but instead of a room it will only cool the cpu

hopefully it should be around -40c or -40f for you Americans with your silly SI units

Good to see you picked upa scroll compressor.. they are much more reliable, and smoother, quieter running units than its medieval predecessor

Its not a scroll its a rotary

which are very LOUD but im hoping to get the low side at about 0PSIG which makes the boiling point of propane -40c

They are really good at pulling a low suction pressure. I wish I still had my reciprocating compressor but its kinda messed up.

I just need some more time to work on it

They wont let me keep a blowtorch in my dorm room

or propane tanks for that matter

or a refrigerator that uses a flammable gas (but when I'm done what are they going to do call the manufacture. :D )

As for lights in the case nope I have a couple in my psu but thats it.

I use to like lights when no one had them but now every case glows and I just like to be original.

Clear cases are ok. Dust is the worst. You can see it in some places and its very hard to get to like ontop of the PSU. When its clean it looks great.

Next case is gonna be something more original. I'm thinking some nice clear coated paint and Id actually really like to do some wood work with it to especially mahogany (I have a boat made out of it).

I'm kind of thinking painted sides (either Ferrari red or yellow and than the wood wraps from the back of the top and down the front.

Someone else start posting pics. Or I'll use the p90 forever

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok here you go, pics you wanted.

This is my desk where I play when I get the chance, heaven willing. It's kind of cluttered, I'll take a pic of the rat's nest of wires, the comp is in the way in this pic.

I also posted my two 8800GT cards, with the Duorb coolers installed. They are laying on the left panel of the computer, in the first pic the door was off. I was trouble shooting some hardware compatibility issues.

I'll post some more when I get the time. They won't be any more spectacular than these two, maybe I can work on the lighting, get some composition going. I'll play around and see.

I picked it up at the University book store 7 years ago. It could be alot better but it has much sentimental value.
This is my next aquisition, Noctua NH-U12F High Performance Cooler, once I get this baby and get it installed I'll post some pics of the guts of my machine. I told the wife I was done spending $$ on computer parts, when she saw my +$1800 credit card balance. :) So I'll have to figure out a way to get it with out causing trouble. With an extra Noctua NF-P12 120mm fan, the whole setup should run me ~$90. I want to do some over clocking on my Q6600, Ive heard of 3.2GHz on stock Intel cooling but with this cooler I should have a nice cushion. It's gotten some good reviews and it's supposed to be super quiet, which is great, cause right now my rig sounds like a dust buster.
good gawd bravo!, whatcha doing with all them desktop icons? Clean up that desktop man!

Well, it's not that great a picture (this was taken with my cell phone), but here's the set that I'm currently using for gaming.

I got a LAN-party case because I was wanting to build a set that I could take with me on trips, yet would still be easily upgradable (you're limited on what you can upgrade with a laptop, and any decent gaming laptop would be about 5-6 times what this system ended up costing me). I'm thinking about building a full-size system for gaming at some point and just using this one to take with me on trips.

The board is a Biostar TF7025-M2 Micro-ATX

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800 Dual-Core CPU 2.0 GHz

2 GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 RAM

2 WD 250GB SATA hard drives (one has a 16-MB cache, the other has an 8-MB cache)

2 ASUS 18X SATA DVD-RW drives

BFG Geforce 7900GS video card

Sound Blaster Audigy SE sound card (I may go to an X-Fi at some point, though this is an inexpensive card that does the job better than on-board sound).

Display: LG L206W 20" widescreen LCD

Speakers: Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers

Headset: Logitech gaming headset

Mouse: Logitech MX518 optical

Keyboard: Anyware PK-205 Slim keyboard (found this at newegg. I was looking for a smaller than normal keyboard for better portability and found this one. The keyboard works quite well, and the keys feel like laptop keys. One neat feature is the built-in keyboard rest can fold up and cover the keys when you're not on the pc).

Take Care
