Alright guys i plan on using some of my stimulus package on a new exhaust system for my truck. Just need to know a few things what is the average mpg increase vs stock exhaust. Also which is the better series 40 50 etc. How many of you actually use them.

Dude, I wanna know some answers as well. Good choice in exhaust. I'm looking at the 50 series Flowmaster dual exhuast for my 85 Elky. Engine needs a good tune-up first. I'll see what I can find out.

I have an apexi exhaust and comptech header and aem intake on my integra gsr.

I dont think i really noticed any increase in gas milage maybe 1-2mpg. It might be more noticable if you had a more predictable pattern but I have a big mix or highway and regular sometimes 100% sometimes 100% the other.

Id pick which ever sounds best to you since you have to hear it everyday.

I prefer Borla over Flowmaster. I've had Borla's on both trucks and my TA and they sound great. The thing about the Flowmaster is at highway speed, they can be very loud. I want loud on acceleration but normal driving to be a little quieter. Borla is a mix of both. They are a bit more expensive though. As far as MPG, I never noticed any difference. Might be because when its on there, I tend to get on a bit more:D

Well i decided the 50 series sounds pretty good after spending an hour on youtube listening to various ones. I can't be too loud all the old folks in my neighborhood may complain to the landlord (even though the jerk next door comes in at the middle of the night with his glasspack draggin down the street with his buds).

I plan on gettin this setup i'll probably go to Midas and have them do it since they are the authorized Flowmaster dealer in the area.

As for mpg increases not much but performance increases can be on average 10 to as much as 25%. I don't do much towing but i haul quite a bit during the summer time so i guess a performance increase is needed. Also i want them that should be enough. :D

What about Dynomax? I installed a set on my Mustang after I swapped the 4 banger out for a 5.0L. The sound was much smoother and quieter when driving easy but when you gave it some gas it roared.

You may not realize mpg increase - you may get about 10 increase in horse power.
I have Bassani pipes on my Mustang. I love the sound! You don't really get much of an improvement on gas mileage, but they sure do look and sound great.
Just an fyi, Flowmaster's design don't "flow" as much as Dynomax, Borla, or Hooker. And going from memory the Hooker "Aero Chamber" muffler flowed better than those I listed. I used to have Flowmaster 40's on my 1968 Ford Galaxie, no comment on gas mileage  , and though it sounded pretty good...It sounded like every other big block Ford, since Flowmaster is usually the more popular muffler.
