Posted June 29, 200916 yr Inspired by BountyHunters quote in the MJ thread. Who are your 4 biggest celebrity deaths in your lifetime that you remember? 1 J.F.K. ( was in a dept. store in Duluth when I heard) 2 Elvis ( was in Sioux Falls S.D. in the HolidayInn when I heard) 3 John Lennon ( was during lunch break in grade 11 highschool ) 4 Michael Jackson ( just turned the t.v. on and there it was along with Farrah) I could add Bob Hope and Johnny Carson as personal favourites just because I grew up watching them.
June 29, 200916 yr 1. Elvis 2. Walter Payton 3. Dean Martin 4. Bob Hope Elvis, I was young and in love. Walter Payton, I love football, he was a great ball player. Dean Martin and Bob Hope, I grew up watching on television.
June 29, 200916 yr Elvis (the day before my 18th birthday) Stevie Ray Vaughan (just when he had turned his life around, i feel fortunate to have seen him twice) Dale Earnhardt (was watching when he crashed) Ronald Reagan (the President, that is)
June 29, 200916 yr Michel Jackson: I'm news junkie theses days, so I was listening to the news on TV and heard he was being transported to the hospital. I also reported on our website the exact time CNN reported him as being dead. John Lennon: I was on leave in my home town, saw it bleeped across the screen on a TV in my old local neighborhood bar. I must say that I was in deep shock and sorrow at the time. JFK: I was too young to remember the exact day, but I do remember seeing pictures of the assassination in "LIFE" magazine shortly there after. I know my dad was devastated, and still mentions it occasionally even today. Neil Armstrong's walk on the Moon: I was in Miami visiting relatives, and my uncle woke me up early in the morning to watch it live on TV (most of the TV's were black and white then)
June 29, 200916 yr Michael Jackson I was actually watching an angling program on TV at the time and just happened to turn over to BBC News 24 at the ad break. Stunned is how i felt. Princess Diana I have NEVER ever bought into the whole "Queen of our hearts" crap than was spouted about when she died. Diana and the rest of the Royals mean absolutely nothing to me and all i can remember feeling this day was seriously pissed off. Every TV / Radio channel was covering her death, i ended up going fishing for the rest of the day (and most of the following 2 weeks). I was actually watching the news when it broke. Eddie Guerrero A few may not understand this one but i grew up watching Eddie Guerrero. I met him once in London during some WCW promotional thing, despite the fact thousands turned out to get his and Perry Saturn's autograph, Eddie was there right till the last fan had got their autograph book signed (me). Phil O'Donnell I guarantee 99% of you are thinking 'who?'. Phil was a "soccer" player here in Scotland. He played for the team i have supported for the last 20years and was my hero. The desire he showed when he pulled on the Celtic shirt was unbelievable, a fan who was living the dream. He tragically dropped dead on 29th December 2007 while playing for Motherwell vs Dundee Utd. I was listening to the analysis of that days fixtures when it was announced that he had passed away. I actually cried that day
July 2, 200916 yr 1. J.F.K.: seen at TV news from Dallas at November xxth 1963. I had 8 years old. (Black and white TV.) I had thought that it was strange in your country to vote for a person one day and to kill her the next day? 10 years later, when I was 18 years old, I had understood it why that JFK had been killed: he did not want the war in Vietnam out the others army/soldiers it wanted to use and empty the old stock of weapons and to renew the stock of armament with new technologies to make work everyone = to create jobs... 2. Neil Armstrong's walk on the Moon: seen at TV news at July 21th 1969. I had 8 years old. (already a color TV since 1967 or 1968). This date (July 21th) is also the belgium indenpendant day. In france the indenpendant day is the July 14th. I know your is the July 4th! 3. Elvis: seen at TV news. 4. John Lennon: seen at TV news. 5. John Wayne: seen at TV news. Also all other Western Stars seen at TV. 6. Farrah: seen at TV news. 7. Michael Jackson: read at Firearms Source forum few hours after Farrah sad news and on TV news the next day on our premises. Egidio.
