Really easy, the signal is blocked above 2000ft by most cell companies via a program in the cell sites, so I'm assuming they do it with net as well.

That is what I thought too. They do not turn it on until you get over 10k and then turn it off when you go below. It has to either be a cell connections. I checked the latency via a speed test and it was only 44 ms so it could not be satellite. . I read about this a few months ago. The first flight with it was sometime around Oct I think. Now all the Delta MD88s seem to have it.
