I loaded 6F yesterday, and I am now running a 12 players test server at 69.93.1.190:14567 THE ARMORY www.fa-thearmory.net

 

I am learning all of the server setup stuff and admin stuff before we actually launch. Please stop by when we start

 

Anyone interested in stopping by, you can set you game filter for "armory" and you will see it, or use GameSpy ...This will be the same IP address when we lauch the server. we will start out with a 40-player server and see how it performs.

try to play and it says I need 1.6 or something like that, and I have DC .6 so do i need a Battlefield: 1942 update or something?

I am a fan of Desert Combat, however this new patch... it... sucks. It actually made my game run worse than before. I don't understand that. Regular Battlefield runs great... Yarrrr.

the .6f is out for DC. You need it to play or DC will not connect and run internet games.It is 245mb big. The patch that is.

My little spy *cough, the wife, cough* just informed me the Inlaws are buying me a copy of BF1942 for Christmas! :shock: If that wasn't enough, it may even be the delux edition... who knows?At anyrate, I should see you all in DC soon

How many maps are in the cycle? i played yesterday all alone on the server and only 1 map with like 4 cars in the whole map

Bleh I had to buy the Delux, because I could find the reg version heh.

I saw the Delux at Wal-Mart for like .25 cheaper than the regular version. I am going back to get a new copy this afternoon when they open so Marshal and I will both have a copy.

I had to do a lttle research, but I found how you can see our desert Combat server in HLSW:69.93.1.190:14567:23000Cut and paste this and you will see it.For BF1942 and Desert Combat, you must add the numbers "23000" at the end of the server IP:port address as shown above.

Specifically, what is buggy about it? I played it about a half-dozen times and it plays well.

i originally wrote a huge, barely coherent rant on DC as my response, but i realized how stupid it made me sound, so ill leave it at this. DC suffers from low player IQ and a HUGE sacrifice to gameplay from realism (stingers that dont home, BMPs taking 3+ AT rockets, impervious helicopters to name a few things), and some very unrefined net and graphics coding. MAybe its just me (i like some semblance of realism), maybe its just my machine, but DC was more of a chore than a fun activity for me.Of course it could just be the fact that im very sick at the moment, and the slightest things are making me very irratible

I'm with you there Flak.

they say they strive for realism, but in the end, constant spamming from Scud launcher/helicopters, basically impossible to hit helicopters, anti-tank guns that arn't anti-tank at all (more anti-jeep than anything) and just basic lamers and tking really really pull this thing down

The Lamers and TKrs we can take care of. Once TA gets a server established, that kind of thing will be taken down to a minimum. (play without FF for one, FF sucks for anything but match play)As for the rest of it, please keep in mind the game is still beta. I played v.5 last night for about an hour.... not sure what to think yet... but I'm willing to give it a couple weeks and see if it'll grow on me. I've played Beta games in the past, I expect things to be rough.They did say they haven't done an Optimization pass to the game yet, so we should expect a bit of lag. Only time I get a framerate drop seems to be when I first spawn in, which will suck if that spawn point happens to be under attack.Not sure I'm gonna like the planes in this version, they move too fast for me to control. I'm a fair Spitfire pilot in BF1942, but these jets in DC are too much for me.At any rate, I'll give it a chance before I dismiss it. I think it has hope.
