Gaming hardware can be expensive, so stretching a dollar is kind of a big deal. Toward the end of 2015, Windows 10 will get DirectX 12, which allows certain hardware components to talk to each other much more efficiently than was possible before. If your CPU has four cores, you should see a noticeable boost. Games have to be designed specifically for DirectX 12 to take advantage of its improved efficiency, though, so you won't see that happening a lot until 2016.
