February 28, 20188 yr Author FYI: For future reference... If you use Steam to purchase a UbiSoft product make sure you buy all DLC through Steam as well. Silly me, after purchasing GR:Wildlands and playing a bit at release, I clicked the in game link to purchase the season pass. I thought the game was fun and wanted access to all the future content. Thing is the in game link takes you to UbiSoft's Uplay site to purchase the game. Even with your Steam Account linked if you purchase the DCL stuff via UPlay that info is never transmitted to Steam so you dont unlock the content you just spent 40 bucks on. Kinda unacceptable IMHO. That said I hit the forums and got a Ubi employee to direct me to where to log a service ticket within minutes so that is a plus. Funny thing is I have access to the War stuff even though it does not show as purchased in steam just not Narco Road and Fallen Ghosts. I got the ingame rewqards and everything just not the actual expansions . Weird... I wish these game companies could get their collective shit together though. Still a Ubi fan and recently my evenings entertainment has been provided solely by Ubisoft so there's that. Ubi and Epic seem to be the least screwed up game companies out there right now which is kinda sad in its own right that so many AAA gaming companies have screwed the pooch so badly.
February 28, 20188 yr I use the game developer's app when purchasing a game to prevent such issues. I only use Steam if they are the sole source for the game.
February 28, 20188 yr I pre-ordered through Steam, I do this for all UBI games. UBIsoft may not like it, but so far Steam is the only client that lets me keep a cash balance on my acct. try that with Uplay lol I Pre-ordered FC5 the same way, but your right NetRngr, going to the client of original purchase is key.
March 1, 20188 yr Author I use the game developer's app when purchasing a game to prevent such issues. I only use Steam if they are the sole source for the game. Generally I use Steam if only for convenience when it comes to patching / updates. Its nice to be able to queue up all the games that need patching and just let it go. Also one of the two games I play right now , Rocksmith, all the DLC songs are on Steam and the cable that's needed I got with the first game I bought a physical disk with only needed the software so Steam was the logical choice there. I think the only publisher app I use at this point is Origin and its increasingly looking like that will be removed soon depending on the next BF title and if they screw the pooch on it or not. I'll need a bottle of scotch if that happens as it will be a sad day indeed.
