Stupid suspect or stupid cop ...you pick one

Well where to start...

1) Officers are supposed to belt in people in custody, which he didn't do.

2) Once the skeezbag had slipped his hands to the front he should have been put in manacles with a belly chain

3) Since he pulled a lighter out of his pocket and was attempting to light the inside of the car on fire he apparently was not searched well.

4) If I am not mistaken the appropriate action when the suspect attempted to set the car on fire would be to immediately stop and extract said skeezbag from the back seat, remove the lighter, and any other items you were too lazy to remove from him when you arrested him, and then apply the manacles you should have already applied but were too lazy to use and then place him back in the car not speed up to insane speeds and put the community at large in danger.

I mean I could go on but these are the highlights. IMHO the perp was pretty stupid but at least he has the excuse of being drunk. The cop however exercises numerous lapses in judgement. IMHO this should be a resume generating event and placed in his record hopefully so he does not go two towns over and get a job as a cop there. There is a reason cops have a really bad rep now. This is one of them. The propensity to shoot first and ask questions later is the other.
