Posted August 18, 20187 yr Early 'Battlefield V' Pre-Order Numbers Are Disappointing, Analysts Say | Digital Trends WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COM Market analysts at Cowen have said that the early pre-order numbers for Electronic Arts' upcoming shooter Battlefield V have been disappointing. The game is scheduled to arrive this October, and will release in between Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Gabe Gurwin@GamingAngelGabe POSTED ON 8.15.18 - 11:27AM Battlefield V will be one of the largest games Electronic Arts releases in 2018 — 2016’s Battlefield 1 attracted more than 25 million players — but the latest shooter could be in trouble. According to industry analysts, pre-order numbers should have the publisher worried about the World War II shooter. According to Wall Street Journal reporter Sarah Needleman, the analysis firm Cowen stated that pre-orders for Battlefield V have thus far been “weak,” possibly because of its launch positioning between heavyweights Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2. “Cowen says Battlefield could suffer the same fate as EA’s Titanfall 2,” Needleman added. Titanfall 2 sold far below EA’s expectations when it launched in 2016, but some of the sales disappointment likely came from EA itself; the publisher chose to release Battlefield 1 just a week earlier, forcing many players to pick between the two. As the original Titanfall hadn’t released on PlayStation 4, its name recognition was certainly not as strong as Battlefield, and it sold several million fewer copies than predicted. It was an especially unfortunate case because Titanfall 2 happens to be one of the best shooters of the generation, and it has received quite a bit of free downloadable content over the last few years, including new modes and maps. There is likely another reason for the lower-than-expected pre-order numbers on Battlefield V. Last year’s Star Wars: Battlefront II was a public relations nightmare for EA, as its initial loot box system was criticized as being pay-to-win. Though the system was completely overhauled and EA promised that a similar system won’t appear in Battlefield V, the company has a long way to go toward restoring players’ faith that it will do the right thing. That being said, the decision to make all multiplayer maps free will likely keep the community together for a longer period of time than it did in Battlefield 1. Battlefield V releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 19. Those who pre-order the Deluxe Edition will get access on October 16, and there will be a free trial available to EA Access members on Xbox One and Origin Access members on PC on October 11. This article goes along with the wallstreet reports that this game will only sell between 12 and 16 million copies maximum.
August 20, 20187 yr I think I am going the Origin Access premier route $100 for a year of New games! That's what I did. Sharp65 and Danbaron did it as well. If you do, come join us for some Battlefront II.
August 20, 20187 yr Author Analyst predicts EA's 'Battlefield V' will be a 'serious disappointment,' says preorders lag 'Call of Duty' by more than 85% WWW.GOOGLE.COM Cowen believes weak preorders for EA’s “Battlefield V” title is putting the company's financial guidance at risk. This game is selling about as well as Swbf2. Let us know how it goes
August 20, 20187 yr Sorry, Debbie Downer. I will tell you how it goes, but we will probably be too busy playing the game. Maybe after some time has passed, I hope to get you some feedback.
August 20, 20187 yr Author LOL Well here is what is crazy. CoD-BO4 has sold 21.5 million pre-orders. BFV is lagging behind 85% That means just over 3.2 million pre-orders for BFV. Yeah there will be day 1 buyers but that is a very low number. Even if it doubles, that is terrible numbers. EA might want to wake up and make a game the community wants to play. August 21, 20187 yr What do they expect? I swear news guys just dont put in the legwork any more. The company is offering pre-orders on one of their core games as well as saying hey you can sign up for this for 100 bucks a month, slightly more than the cost of BF1 plus Premium, and have access to pretty much any game you want to play for a friggin year. Don't like BF5 no worries uninstall and load up something different. OF COURSE pre orders are gonna be down. It doesn't make fiscal sense to spend aproximately the same amount, depending on version, for one game. Sometimes the intelligence of some people's kids astounds me. Maybe I'm just gettin old and cranky.
August 23, 20187 yr Author Battlefield V preorders are below expectations, but it isn’t going to bomb VENTUREBEAT.COM Some of the hype around Battlefield V is starting to turn sour. In a note to investors (as The Wall Street Journal spotted), analyst Doug Creutz of investment firm Cowen & Co. said that the game’s preorder numbers were looking weak compared to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2.… Good news, EA does have a contingency plan if Battlefield V’s revenue trajectory turns south. They will launch the battle royale mode early instead of after launch like it is scheduled. If that does not work, then they are going to offer free DLC! Wait, I thought all the DLC was already suppose to be free?
August 23, 20187 yr Pretty sure the DLC is free unless the whole deal with no premium was F you buy each pack bastards. That's what you get for complaining. Nahh it is free im sure thats more of the journalistic awesomeness I was speaking about before.
August 24, 20187 yr After the disappointment of Battlefield 1 no wonder their preorder sales are low.
August 25, 20187 yr I think I am already tired of all that past crap and I'm definitely looking forward to some more new crap soon. Just saying.
August 26, 20187 yr Personally, I'm waiting for the BFV half price sales that will come out a month after launch..lol
August 26, 20187 yr Personally, I'm waiting for the BFV half price sales that will come out a month after launch..lol Personally, and if I were you, I would not buy it all. Save your money...lol
August 27, 20187 yr Author Another one of Battlefield 5's most interesting features will miss the game's launch WWW.VG247.COM Dragging teammates to cover is another feature DICE promised for Battlefield 5 that won't be there at launch. Dragging teammates to cover is another feature DICE promised for Battlefield 5 that won’t be there at launch. About a week ago, Battlefield 5 developer DICE confirmed that vehicle customisation won’t be available in the game at launch. The developer is placing greater emphasis on customisation this time around, and though soldier and weapon customisation will be possible at launch, the same feature will be turned on for vehicles at a later time. It now appears another feature the developer has been teasing since the Battlefield 5 reveal, will too miss the October launch. That being the ability to drag teammates into cover. The writing was kind of on the wall since we learned it won’t be in the open beta. The feature also wasn’t in either of the closed alpha builds. Multiplayer producer at DICE David Sirland was asked on Twitter about the ability to drag teammates’ bodies, and confirmed that it’s still being developed. Bullet penetration, another feature that’s been absent from the alpha, will be in the open beta build. They are so far behind in development it is not even funny anymore.
August 28, 20187 yr looks like a LOT of the game will be missing at launch. I was concerned that I would not have time to practice music and play BF5. Looks like this issue I had may work itself out sadly. I was kinda looking forward to neglecting my music a little.
