They really really need something. The game's not gonna last without it. Even just to get some "hardcore" servers out, that really saved BF1 for me towards the end.

    Honestly the custom games would work providing the admins have the ability to kick/ban people. Funny thing is that with the current TTK/TTD in the game its basically a HC mode now being able to disable things like auto healing completely would pretty much do that. I would really like to see some breakdowns of the damage compared to say a BF4 HC server. Im betting they are pretty damned close.
