Posted June 20, 20196 yr Streaming gaming will change the video game industry. Here's why | CNN Business WWW.CNN.COM Streaming has upended the movie and music industries. Now, it’s spreading to the video game business. But the budding technology also prompts a lot of questions like how many publishers are willing to jump onboard, whether internet connections are fast enough and which tech company will bring on the most adopters. Although graphics may be a bit blurrier depending on devices' screen resolution and internet connection, the gameplay will otherwise be the same as it would on a console. "There's only a handful of companies that we believe can do this globally," said Bill Stillwell, director of product planning for xCloud. Microsoft Azure services 140 countries worldwide, and that reach means people are less likely to experience lag in gameplay. Does that mean people will need to shell out $14.99 for UPlay+ and buy Google Stadia titles separately? It's not clear. Ubisoft and Google both said they would have more to share at a later date.
June 20, 20196 yr I pre-ordered Stadia, and I hope it works decently ...I am excited to try it, for sure. If it fails my expectations, I will at least get a Chrome Ultra Streaming device out of the deal. I've been wanting to purchase one anyway. I will give my full review in November when the service is active, and again when I play Ghost Recon: Breakpoint on it at 4k 60fps. If they find a way to make this thing work effectively, and with little to no lag, I believe the service will prevent the makers of game cheats from exploiting games ...we can only hope. June 21, 20196 yr Well, I just cancelled my pre-order. After reviewing the bandwidth requirements to run Stadia, it would wipe out my 1 Terabyte of capped data. It's unfortunate that Comcast puts a cap on your data, and requires an additional $50 a month to get unlimited data. Oh well, I will try the free Stadia for free next year when it becomes available.
June 22, 20196 yr Author I am still waiting on pricing. It was brought up if you get stadia, would you need to get say origin or uplay. Google said they would get back to everyone on that.
