February 22, 200422 yr When I put a new CD drive in a month or so ago, I wanted two drives in the computer. Unfortunately, I could only find one spot for the drives to go into. The other one had to go. How could I get the two of them to work on my computer?
February 22, 200422 yr Then one needs to be set as a slave and the other as a master. There are little jumers on the back of the drive.cs = cable selectms = mastersl = slave

February 23, 200422 yr Author So, if I set the new one to Master and the backup as slave, all should work? Also, my old one seemed to be ripped or something :\, it would read only some CD's. I can try to get a pic up if possible. And I'll get a pic of my computer guts, cause I couldnt find another place for the drive's "large cord" to go. I looked on the Mobo, HD, and about everywhere else I could jam it into
February 24, 200422 yr Yes. Also plug in the MAster on the end of the cable. The cable should have 3 connectors. Two will be closer to each other. The Blue end or the one that is by itself goes to the motherboard.
February 24, 200422 yr |_____|________________________|^ ^ these go into your drivesnow the far left will go into your master drive the one next to it goes into the slave drive the end on the far right plugs into your motherboardif it's a standard ide cable, there should be a red/pink stripe on the side(I apologize for the crudeness of my example, but I'm lazy)
