February 29, 200422 yr If you are troubled with slow loading times, try these:New CD drive. I went from a 24x to a 52x and WOW. At least 2x faster loading.LOTSA RAM! I currently have 512mb of PC133 and my friends loads faster on 512 of DDR, so get more ram.The new drive definately helped me.
February 29, 200422 yr Did you do a full install of Battlefield and DC, or did you just do CD for Battlefield?
March 1, 200422 yr Author You may not know, but during map changes, your game actually restarts, reading your CD again. (A.K.A The "Black Screen")
March 1, 200422 yr I use, "GameDrivePro", it saves the disc to the C: drive, so you don't have to take it out of the case everytime you play, conserving the disc. So, My computer reads the disc from a virtual drive, Gator would agree, this greatly decreases loading/restart time.
March 2, 200422 yr If you want fast load times you need 4 things..Fast RAM (and lots of it) i am taking DDR400 if you can, or DDR333 if you cant. 1024 meg is a good number right now, affordable and utalised better than less or more.Fast Drive, Serial ATA. preferably 10000RPM< but any sATA drive is goodFast CD/DVD drive (54x is a mist now), for loading games use a reader only, they dont cache like a r/w does and load slightly faster...Optional, Get high quality Internal wiring if you can IDE cables The cat-5 cable between your modem and PC, again high quality USB cabes, any internal leads that are more expensive = a few milliseconds less load time.(look out for oxygen free-copper and gold contacts. (itll cost more but itll make a difference) Dont know if you have a Belkin range of wires over there, just little bit better that the rest,Game Drive (like sam suggested) also helps
March 2, 200422 yr Game Drive looks interesting, ill probably get that. Deleting your EA movie files that the beginning of the games shaves off load time for me also. Might want to give it a try and also get rid of the annyoing logos at the beginning of the game when you start it .
