March 29, 200421 yr Author Have fun. Been there. Done that. Many times. its not my first time. i've accually upgraded this computer 3 times. this woudl be the fourth. i've also buidl other systems for other people.
March 31, 200421 yr Author Wow  lotsa parts, lotsa $$ thats what that pink slip says. anyways the system is finished but i got a huge problem. When i play hl or any game the temps shoot up to 68-70 degress celcius. I have 2 case fans and they are useless.
March 31, 200421 yr you may want to check that a you got enough thermal compound on the CPU, and that its bedded properly on the heatsink, also check that the fan (if it has dynamic speed) that its either set to be controlled in the bios (such as ASUS' qfan control) or that its turned right up. also the same with the case fans.. it may be worth while lifting out one of the drive bay covers because the case fans draw air out of the case. (i had to cut a hole in the outside of the case on the opening side to allow for proper ventilation, because my Power supply was hitting the high 80's celcius. check that no wires are obstrucking the fans and that the case has proper ventilation front and back. ALSO if the case is on a carpet, get a peice of wood (or something else solid) and put the case on it, there looks to be small vent port in front of where the speaker is.this would be a good opportunity to modify the case a little, add a few nice grills here and there! (front bottom corner of the right hand side and left hand side, as you look at the front of the PC (under the HD caddy) is the best place for them....i found this out from experiance. the best hole should be suitable size (around 3inches diameter is usually good), and you can purchase some chrome mesh, be carefull tho, not to short anything out.It is possible to take off the other side (opposite to teh main access panel) in teh same way you can take off the left hand panel on most cases. do not attempt to cut the holes while the case is assembled!Check that the actual case itself is rated to a CPU of the speed you are using, if it isnt then more holes need to be added and FAST.you can get PCI slot fans that take air out of the case as well, but you still need a hole near the front to let air in.
March 31, 200421 yr i remember that hot summer day that my brother and i built my computer. looked exactly like that. never did find my cat.... :?
April 1, 200421 yr Author well i've fixed my problem and i've bought a diffrent cpu cooler thats all copper. Thermlake type. And i bought a 80 cfm case fan. Noise as hell and thats what the fan bus is for.
