March 31, 200422 yr I just "accquired" a copy of CS:CZ to see if it was worth the 30 bucks for multiplayer, and I made a startling discovery. Not only is there no LAW as in the screenshots, all the models are exactly the same as the Steam free CS. I thought the models and maps were updated like the Xbox version of CS and like the CS:CZ box pics depict. Do i have an early beta copy? or is there really some fraudulent advertising afoot. If so, than I feel my liberal shareware policy is more than justified...
March 31, 200422 yr Author Shoplifting???? Heck no! I used Shareza, admitedly legally ambiguous, 99% of the time, the game turns out to be not worth it (like it seems for CS:CZ) anyway.
April 1, 200422 yr nopeI'm on a school computer which doesn't let me goto planethalflife, but if you go there, you can find a link to the Steam forums where some guy makes some really good argumentsfor 39.99 (CS:CZ) you get no new graphics/models/soundsall you basically get is new maps and a crappy single playerNow, Ut04 and Battlefield Vietnam, which are also both 39.99 (here anyway) you get new graphics/weapons/maps/gameplay modesseriously. CZ IS NOT WORTH THE BUCKS!
April 1, 200422 yr Author so the CS:CZ box art/screenshots are fraudulent??? This might warrant legal action. The real game is NOTHING like what the box depicts in its so called "screen shots". In fact, this would make it seem that all they did was rip pics from teh Xbox version, and photoshop up some others. My respect for valve has just plummeted to below even that of gearbox (The who Halo PC debacle). Im going to sau it right now, IM GLAD I ILLEGALY DOWNLOAD GAMES!!!!!
April 1, 200422 yr Hope you read the box carefully... box may say "screenshots are not as advertised." or something really small on the bottom.
April 1, 200422 yr Author yeah, that would just make me hate valve more. At that point, I think would actively pursue developing cheats for HL2 based off the ripped code.
April 2, 200422 yr Personally I lost about 90% of my respect for valve after HL2 didn't come out in the early summer, like they said it would, or september, like they said it would, or even december, like they said it would.I'm not buying HL2, not matter what....Edit...BTW, in case any Valve employee is reading this, I spent the money I had put away for HL2 on BF:1942.
April 2, 200422 yr Author Im going to buy HL2 but I honestly believe it will suck at this point. Far Cry has all ready surpassed it graphically, and Painkiller (a cheesy Serious Sam knockoff) has implemented a more advanced version of the Havoc engine. Im pretty much just getting HL2 for the mods and because I have a free voucher from ATI (how u wanna bet they wont honor it when the time comes)
April 2, 200422 yr I got CZ as a very late x-mas presentit's 2 cd'sw/ a bonus cd full of hl2 vidsLAW is there, try "Deleted Scenes"oh wait, you have to get it legally before you can knock itnm
April 2, 200422 yr Author Im thinking I may have a beta version or something of CS:CZ, becuse it certainly doesnt seem very polished to me. Anyway, I heard deleted scenes was just that, snippets of features never fully implemented and barely playable. Besides, I wanted to try CZ to see if it was worth buying for MP purposes (I hate bots) and since you can't play online with ripped copies, I rationalized no harm no foul if I tried it in full to see if the single player was an indicator of the quality of the MP experience. If i liked it (which I obviously didnt) I would go buy the real thing and play online. As it is, with the crappy quality of most games/apps being released almost pre-beta and unpolished for 50 bucks, I figure Im doing something no more legally ambiguous than the companies that charge 50 bucks for incomplete projects. Its like buying a new house with a thatched roof when it comes to most newer games. Ill be the first person to admit what I am doing is wrong, but I wont stop until game and app makers admit that the release now, maybe patch later model they follow now is equally wrong...
April 3, 200422 yr Author Valve sanctioned it though. Also, relic didnt make it, they handed it off to some crap-ass company whose name escapes me.
April 3, 200422 yr notice how me being POed at valve is mostly due to the fact of them lying several times about the release date.
April 3, 200422 yr according to the box itsvalve, ritual, gearbox, vivendi, sierraand I was playing deleted scenes earliergot mowed down by 2 snipers and a law, bastards
April 4, 200422 yr Just to explain it. THE GAME HAS NOTHING NEW except for some new maps and the bots. There are no new guns and no single player that they announced. Altough u can install deleted scenes which was what was SUPPOSED to be in it but its barely playable and its unfinished. But it would of looked really nice if the game was like the deleted scenes. My respect for valve DISSAPEARED after a couple of years of postponing CS:CZ. And also HL2 i am willing to bet it will come out at the very least in 2005.
April 5, 200422 yr Let's not forget TFC2 getting postphoned as well. I'm thru with these companies and their series.
April 6, 200422 yr from what i have heard from the other forums i chat on, it really hit the "condition zero." I was thinking about getting it, but after hearing that once they started playing the game they felt like stopping, the thought left my mind. As far as seeing screenshots for it or reading articles on it, i haven't. So i guess technically i cant provide a testimonial from my own experience in the game.*so instead, i am going to buy BF:V but the past two times i have come up short for cash when i was there.
April 6, 200422 yr lets go threw all the failures of valve shall we?hl2 postpondtfc2 postpondcopying DOOM with DMCcz postpondmaking STEAMnot making all game H4x free
April 7, 200422 yr Author I think they have had more successes than failures, and the way they support the mod community was truly altruistic, but I have still lost a lot of respect for them
April 8, 200422 yr Magnet i totaly agree with you. This was one of the few company's that helped mod developers offering them a deal like they did with the CS team. AHH if Fa went to stores 3 years ago we would of been better than cs ever would. :o
April 8, 200422 yr jimmyhell will freeze over, then thaw, then freeze over again before any game is cheat free
April 8, 200422 yr Ahhh, but Valve seems to have done so little. From my understanding, their VAC coding reads "if you want to cheat, just patch here". Not to mention they've completely blown off the Evenbalance team with their offers to help. No, no game can be cheat free. But Valve didn't even try hard enough.
