I would like to thank The Armory, this is the only online gaming server with chat and type communications that I feel I can leave my 2 children and feel they are safe.Thats it really.Thank youStoned Fiendish Red Baron
That is because there are parents that play here with childrenClan members RadioactiveHamster and Magey are my 13 and 11 year old boys.I for one work in a Steel Mill and hear that crap all day long. The last thing I want to hear/see when I am, "relaxing online", is some smacktard abuse our ears and eyes. Plus foul language only escalates into major flame wars so it is better to have a no language rule that keeps the peace and quiet where its at.

I can see why Mac wouldn't want to hear that all the time. He hears it at work and what-not. When i came home from construction crew, i wouldn't curse at all - because i just got done cursing, for 12 or 13 hours.

However, it is my opinion that the majority of children that play online games at the age of 12/13, playing a Mature game, playing a game where your sole object is to kill the other players, is a bit of a..mixed signal. It's like saying HEY! VIOLENCE IS AN ACCEPTABLE ANSWER, BUT SAYING GOD DAMMIT ISN'T! DON'T CURSE! To me, it just doesn't make any sense. Also, by the time the majority of the people i know were 11-13, we already knew all the curse words. It really doesn't matter IMO, they're not going to learn it any faster/slower.

Also, in my experience, having a language filter didn't particularly reduce flame wars, they just reduced flamewars that only used two words, one beginning with the letter F, and the other ending in the letter U. I just think it's odd. I know that's how you guys do your thing; and that's fine with me, i just think it's really, really odd.

And another plus, most reasonable players can tolerate our language policy. Give them a warning and they stop. But the smacktards, they just scoff at the filter and get themselves banned. In the end, people with bad attitudes are filtered out of the server, resulting in a better gaming environment. 8)

Thankyou for the kind words about the TAC server...we like to have a nice place to play.

Mr. DasHuhn,

Yes, it does stop flame wars, and that is a fact...it's proven method to significantly reduce verbal assaults on one another. What you don't see are the many emails we receive from other players thanking us for having a nice place to play. We plan to keep it that way...

Playing a video game has nothing to to with "killing" in a real since. Just as small kids play army in the backyard, it is all simulated and nothing more. People know it is a game and just a game only, and so your rational does not hold water. Look and see how many play on this server, and then look at some other servers...you tell me what is working, and what is not.

If a player cannot be nice on our server, I suggest that person go play on another server. Unfortunately for him, the server will probably be empty. Bottom-line...players like a friendly atmosphere...not little filthy-mouthed smacktards

I't's just a game my kids saw me playing and wanted to join in,on most of the other servers it's non stop swearing and abuse, I don't want that coming through to my home.I don't think my kids will be running round with ak74's killing people at any point in the future they understand it's just a game that they can play against other people from all over the world (which is a fantastic concept for a real time action game)But I like to have a safe envioronment I can leave them in without fear of them thinking bad language and constant slagging off is normal behaviour, or being at risk from some pedophile.A donation will ebe on it's way at the end of the month.Thank you allFiendish Red Baron

Gator, there are many reasons on why your server is very popular. One of them might be your swearing policy, however it is my position that it's not so. I'll explain later today when i have a little more time.

And theres a huge difference between playing army in the back yard with sticks, and playing a game where you can see guns, ammo, blood coming all over the place. A huge difference. And it's been scientifically proven to raise the violence level in children under the age of 15 or so. After 15, it's been proven to help people. This isn't an attempt to flame you guys, not at all - most of you guys are very nice and I enjoy posting here and debating with you.

HA! This world is way to screwed up for anybody to be able to blame all of the first person shooters for there childrens violent behavior. If a parent teaches a child a strong since of morality and some sort of etheical code, would a videogame be able to subvert or destroy it? But then again i do not have children, all i kmow is the way i was brought up. That upbringing led me to this server, where there is not constant use of explatives as verbal assults on my person. Besides, all profanity is just the idiots way of trying to express an emmotion that one is to stupid and/or lazy to verbalize without making his/her brain fizzle and pop from overexertion, or the lack of a good vocabulary. So in a way this server teaches people not only patience, but also eloquence.

but i think the point here is the no swearing rule is not to make anything less violent, it is to keep away the

little filthy-mouthed smacktards

And it does a good job

I think that lately i have forgotten what a privilage it is to be a part of this clan and the family and community that it provides. And for that i owe an apology to the entire clan, especially Mac, but also the rest of the SC and clan as well. You will see more of me and i will do better to represent the clan in a fashion that is more suitable and proper.

Thanks again to Gator, Mac, Statecop,KP,Cat, and all you other old farts who have held this clan together through thick and thin.

To completely destroy? Probably not. But one could also state, that if i parent teaches a child to have a strong sense of morality they wouldn't need to block out all the bad language - the children will have no problem ignoring it for what it is, and hence the language filter is still un-needed. But it is proven for children to be more agreesive with this in pre-teen/early-teen years, and it tends to relax them in middle-teen/late-teen years.

However, it does effect it.

Theres a number of reasons why the [TA] server is very popular. One comes because of the ammount of active playing members - You can just about always find a TA member playing at the FA server at any time of day. And usually theres 2 or 3 of them. When you get 3 players on a server with very popular community the server will flurish. Another reason you guys have a popular server is because it's fairly well admin'd. You guys don't take crap from anyone, whether it be clan mate or hated enemy, everyone has an equal chance at everything. Another reason is because of your friendly clan mates - Friendly clan mates make friendlier servers.

Another reason why it's possible is because you guys put up with alot of crap that most other servers won't, like helm camming or general exploiting. I know in the helmet bug days, many players would play on your server because they could easily exploit the helmet hitboxes and live longer - I know serveral people that would do this regularly. I know some people that /still/ play on your server becasue they can exploit all they want and you guys won't ban, kick, or get pissy at them in general.

Another reason it's a popular server is because it's CD-required. [TA] has gotten the first, full time CD required server up in ANY mod for HL that i'm aware of. Good job guys, especially since you did it with a dying mod, where you're mostly hated throughout the clan community (or you guys used to be)

I don't think that your anti-swearing filter is a top-contender reason on why your server is full for most people. Most people play there simply because theres less cheating, proper adminning, and a over-all friendly attitude.

I still don't believe that no curse-words means a flame-free server. I can burn you guys ALOT worse without using curse-words than i can with them. And for any of you poeple reading with small children playing: hud_saytext 0. You can't see any chat, not even in the console. ITs' like you're invisible to all text. I believe voice_enable 0 disables the microphones as well, i'm unsure about it.
