May 9, 200421 yr Actually, not me i lied lolololol hendrix, santana.... best newer guitarist is ian from billy talent imo Billy Talent is a punk band. People form punk bands because they suck at playing real music, as well playing instruments. Therefore it is an impossiblity for someone from a punk band to be labeled "best" at anything; aside from being best worst guitar player. rofl....
May 9, 200421 yr No sorry, Kirk Hammett is the best guitar player, ever. That guy can mash the strings better than ANYONE alive or dead.
May 9, 200421 yr Kirk Hammett is good but he's not the best, since Steve Vai is clearly better. rofl.... What? It's true. If you don't think so then you are a fool.

May 9, 200421 yr Can't believe I forgot  Blues Best- Jimmy Ray VaughnMac, you make a good point with Jimmy Page. Bane... absolutely Brian May... he is almost in a class by himself with his homemade ax and the sounds he got from it...light years ahead of the pack! 8) But let's face it... for vision, breaking the mold, creating an entirely new paradigm, no one comes close to Jimmy. His legacy speaks to the fact that he sounds remarkably modern 30 plus years AFTER his death! Unreal. And to think he was doing this stuff in 1965 and 66  when a lot of bands were still in the Beach Boy sound!!! I remember hearing him the first time and thinking he was crap, but that was because what he was doing was so totally new and radical, no one, NONE, had ever done what he was doing. It was really shocking. Now he sounds almost tame. One other thing, we forget he did not have access to all the high tech stuff that makes his sound easy (relatively speaking) to duplicate today. He basically invented his sounds with basic amplifier and an 8 track recording system. Again, the guy was just simply out there. This short bio brought to you by: Chappy! :o
May 9, 200421 yr Stevie Ray Vaugh was good but did not have enough Soul IMHO to be the best Blues guitarist.I just said Buddy Guy b/c he is good. There are sooo many good Blues Gutarist. (Not Eric Clapton either) It is tough to make a firm choice. Sort of like Chappy said The Old time (Black) Blues guys were doing their stuff long before the Stones, Led Zep and others started "Covering" their songs. Without the True old time Blues bands. A lot of the groups we know today would not have had as many Hits. Thats a fact too.
May 9, 200421 yr Yeah, Steve Vai is awesomse you can see him in a movie called crossroads, but they made him mess up in it (he's the guy the kid goes against in the duel)Also, deffinately Jimmy, he's just amazing.
May 10, 200421 yr Gen.ManoWar]I think that the best newer guitarist is Tom Morello, i noticed that no one mentioned him here. If u listen to his songs u will go crazy with the complexity yet simple tunes from his guitar I did learn to read
May 11, 200421 yr My personal favorite is Adam Jones of Tool. And I agree with Commie. Victor Wooten is amazing.
May 11, 200421 yr Jimmy Hendrix because he was very innovative. And Jimmy Page because he was awesome. Some of the new guys are good, but if you ever listen to some Led Zeppelin music, you'll know what I'm talking about. 8)

May 11, 200421 yr Yeah A lot of Led Zepplin was based on old time blues. FACT. They didn't even credit the original musicians. But still, Zeppelin is pretty good.
May 11, 200421 yr sterling morrison's sig is da bestI like Jimmy Henderson or the guitarist for Rage Against the Machine

May 12, 200421 yr Yeah A lot of Led Zepplin was based on old time blues. FACT. Well, if you listen to Led Zeppelin, you'll realize the guitar player is flawless. That's all I was saying. I never thought that Led Zeppelin sounded like blues. You're crazy... 8)
May 12, 200421 yr I would love to see how well any of these so called "awesome" guitar players would do at a fast paced song. Face it, the skill required for clean string sounds when doing metal means Kirk Hammett ownz them all
May 12, 200421 yr Posted: May 09, 2004 - 03:13 PM I agree with Chappy. Buddy guy for Da Blues. And do not Forget about Jimmy Page. I know.
