I get very emotional about this...I love this country and would fight to the death for it.
i may be only 16 but sinc e I was 5 I have been planning a life time career. I woudl fight for this country any time or place

That is not the intention sock....this is an American holiday to honor I soldiers/veterans/fallen heros. I think you guys should lobby your government for something like our memorial day.
i have Lee Greenwood - Proud To Be An American on my computer, and i must say, he sings our freedom better than anyone else. even Paul McCartney.
We arent letting the Canadians or any other allied nation's sacrifices slip by (in fact I will mention them in a thread on June 6, kudos if you know what that is the anniversary of), its just the American day of remembrance for her vets.I too would fight to the death for the country, as it stands I have a rotc scholarship for college and plan to stay in long past the mandatory service time
Flak I will be applying for it for next year and June 6th is the 60th anniversary of D-Day
bonus points to finner, and good luck with the app. I was a little late so I only got a 3 year (though the college still gave a hefty scholarship for the year without ROTC money). Will you still join ROTC if you dont get the scholarship?
Yes, I am also applying to the academies on recommendations from recruiters and our Senior Aero Space Instructor. My mom knowing our 3 congressmen on a personal level and several high ranking generals in Washington can't help any right? =]
i applied to West Point, got the nominations, but wasnt good enough on the PAE: \, still I got pretty close to passing it, Im going to go a year in ROTC (and perhaps the National Guard under the SMP) and then re-apply to the Academy.

Don't you fret StateCop, we have Remembrance Day (damn, did I spell remembrance wrong AGAIN!)

Don't know if you celebrate that too, but I guess that's what we have.

Anyway, I watched Bush's speech over the new memorial in DC. It was a really good speech. I'm not too annoyed by the fact that they don't mention any other countries at it, because it is YOUR holiday!

My dad is in France right now for the 60th Anniversary of D-Day. He's helping out with techie stuff in like information centers and stuff like that.

I'm Canadian, so i don't think I'll listen to said song and look at these pictures over and over again, I'm 100% Canadian, and I love my country as much as yours!

Thus, all Canadians must listen to any Stomping Tom song and look at the following pictures...

Bless

Our

Fair

Country!

ME 2,
Kinda forgetting the Canadians... we did go to the beaches too, 100, 000 dead/wounded. Yet it seems to slip by?

I'm sure this day (6 June) is not just for Americans who came to deliver us ( even if it's the main heard sound) but for ALL heroes who fell and remained alive on french's beaches and kick off Hitler's troops from France.

And I want to say THANK YOU ALL, We will remember that for eternity.

Note : I like the first picture StateCop.

your're correct, its for all the allied (including the Free French) heroes, it would be selfish and ignorant to celebrate just one country

Yes come June 6 I will be giving thanks to all of those that were brave enough to fight for freedom!
I recomend playing Call of Duty, dont play it as a game, but try to imagine what it must have felt like to be one of the soldiers at D-day.
