July 6, 200421 yr Hey guys. Well call me crazy but i went extreme a week or soo ago. I installed a 15000RPM fan that feeds on 110V. Same type of fan that the army uses in their power supply's for different applications. I jacked it from my dads work. Well not really jacked it more like asked if i can take it and then took it. The noise is considerably louder. I installed it on my case because my CPU was overheating (60C) thats aprox 140F. Now it relaxes at 30C aprox 80-90F. Pictures will come up soon.
July 6, 200421 yr If your µp reach the 60° C, it will shut down automaticaly by security temperature because you cpu fan connections are bad : not connected at the good plug (go to see if it's the "chassis fan" or "cpu fan") or inverted = reject air that it do aspir air to cold the cpu... Or your cpu fan don't ventilate...With the 15000rpm fan, you have sound like a fighter engine reactor... Egidio.
July 6, 200421 yr Author Egidio thanks for the tip but i know my computer inside out. The problem is that its enclosed space and its really hot around it (110-220 Power Converter is like right next too it and the sucker is for 4000W) Soo i had no other way that too put this fan in and i like it.PS: I've set my Motherboard too shut down at 65C soo i still had a little space. Also note that amd's tend to run hotter.
July 6, 200421 yr Mmmmh ! Strange ? The Athlon XP 2400+ from my son is between 40 & 55° C max with a ThermalTake Vulcano copper fan at 2500 or 3000rpm !And the temperature from the motherboard is 42° C !We use 220 volts in all Europa. There is not the external voltage who make the cpu temperature : go to see in you Bios if the voltage core of the cpu is rate bewteen 1.60 and 1.72 volts maximum else you burn your cpu in 2 days !Sometime i am well sure that i connected right but when i check and recheck again, i find the glitch... Sometime only the next tomorrow.Egidio.
July 6, 200421 yr an amd cpu won't shut down @ 60C which isn't harmful to the cpu. These cpu's can run @ 80C safely before burning up the chip. My athlon 64 runs @ 60C at 100% percent cpu usage but I'm not comfortable with it so I'm getting a better cooler.
July 6, 200421 yr Man at max my chip goes to like, 45C Some chips run hotter than other. For example the P4 prescott chip runs very hot compared to the P4 northwood which is preferred due to those reason. Also mine runs @ 60C because I got mine overclocked really high. At stock mine wouldn't get over 40C.
July 6, 200421 yr Lower CPU temps = slightly slower speeds but GRETLY IMPROVED CPU life..... looking for a good fan or 2? try something like this... 84.1CFM of air thruput at 5700 RPM< itll be noisy, but worth it for hre extra cooling, try to go fro the quietest fan with the highest AirCFM that you can,
July 7, 200421 yr Uh....I can run up to 90C with my AMD2600 before it shuts down.... I believe it, but expect very short cpu life with temps like those.
July 7, 200421 yr Author No guys this message explains that i will NEVER NEED a new fan . You know those people that buy a new muffler cuz it sounds good and gains em 1-2hp. Well i did that with the fan :>
July 7, 200421 yr Hey Mano, if it works for you and you're happy with then thats cool. Of course some people will always have their opinions which cool too, and expect these people to show you their opinion whether it is against or for the subject which you posted. After all you were asking what we thought. Get some pics up so we can see your mod.
July 8, 200421 yr i run at 62c all the time when the cpu is running at 100%52c @100%case.blame it on my 9800 pro that runs super hot.i have 2 35cfm fans. one blowing in one blowin out.
