My graphics card used to perform games like Need for Speed Underground very well at a consistent 30+ FPS with the settings up all the way. Now, at the same part of certain tracks my FPS drops to about 15. I've noticed lowered performance in all of my games, and I'm also having some viewing distance problem. In first person shooter games, if I look out ahead of me the textures won't be rendered as well as the textures that are right under me. This happened to me in Far Cry and in Firearms, so I don't think it was a programming flaw. I'm using an ATI Radeon 9600xt that I got for christmas last year, so I don't think it is worn out. I didn't hook-up my hard drive to my graphics card because it is not necessary, my card doesn't even have the 4 pin slot (i think. . . ) The card operates at 42 degrees celsius (107 degrees fahrenheit) at 527mhz. ThI've updated my sound, video, and motherboard drivers so I don't think those would cause any problems either.I contacted ATI and I'm probably going to have the card repaired, but if anyone knows anything I should try before hand it would be appreciated

do a reformattif it goes back to the way it was you just have to much crap on ur hd

i'll do that as a last resort, I don't wanna have to get rid of everything i just re-installed windows xp about 2 weeks ago, and that fixed stuttering problems I was having in Grand Theft Auto games, but the lowered FPS problems occured before and after this.Vice city works OK, except sometimes the textures just don't load. I think maybe my hard drive just has too much stuff like you said.I have used 63gb and 5gb free, does that seam unreasonable?

Look for something running in the background.

 

Hit cntrl alt del and see what is running.

 

Use Hyjack This. Search in Google. To find and stop the program from running if you cannot turn it off or uninstall it ( If it is a Trojan )

 

I would do Graphics card delete all files program. Find them in www.guru3d.com. Remove all graphics card files ( With a program ) then reinstall the latest ones. You may have AA running and it says it is off or something along that idea.

 

You will not have to start with total reformat. Just total/reformat your V-card drivers.

you could use partion magic and make a new partition install xp there and try that than you dont have to delete all your stuff

Could you put that in simpler terms mac? im having the same problem with my GeForceFX 5600

i got a problem here. . . .i have no trouble completely removing all of the graphics card drivers, but when i restart, it automatically installs the catalyst 3.9 drivers i have no control over it, the screen goes black for a few seconds, then i check settings and the radeon drivers have been installed

id jsut unistall the cat 3.9dont reboot and than install the newest cat drivers

i have a 6gb D drive, but i dont know what its for, maybe i could format that instead and try running XP on itits supposed to be some recovery drive, but i don't think i use itim probably gonna create a partition on my C:/ drive anyway, i have about 13gb free now, i hope thats enoughcan you transfer files from one partition to the other?

the uninstallers work, but it still automatically does the "add new hardward wizard" in the background, however, with your help i was able to fix iti just disabled the plug and play feature by doing Run--->msconfig then unchecking plug and play under servicesi have the latest drivers installed, but it didn't solve my problem either i didn't think the drivers were the problem because (for example) in Need for Speed Underground I can play some courses all the way through fine, but other courses have significantly lower FPS. I also still have trouble with my view distance, anything past a certain distance is rendered very poorly :? Maybe my computer isn't good enough, even though I was sure I could play these games fine before. . . .Specs:P4 2.53GHZ512mb ddr ramRadeon 9600XT80GB HDDI bought the Hewlett Packard Model 753n, the only change i made was the graphics card because it came with a terrible one. It was some Intel Extreme Graphics, part of the 845G chipset, which is just terrible :roll:

whats wrong with mine is that in games that used to run perfectly (FA, mvp baseball 2004) im getting bad graphic drops. In FA i have horrible texture problems and get random lag spikes for no reason. and in MVP baseball some areas are black and the fences have lines through them. both of these games used to run perfectly. i cant figure out what it is.

Have you reinstalled the game.?

 

Have you patched all the problem games.?

 

If you have the old card or can borrow someones. Test another card in your machine. The card maybe going bad.

 

I had a GF5200 that ran horribly. No matter what I did. But it never ran right. I assume the 9600 did at one point.

 

Also. If you follow one of the links above (forum one). It tells you how to uninstall the default windows drivers. Try that.

 

If you have two sticks of ram. Try removing one of them.

 

Download cpuid here http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php version 1.23 and make sure your processor is running at the correct speed as well as your memory.

 

It is also possible your CPU is not getting the proper volts as well as the V-card from the mobo or powersupply. This will not cause a crash or drop to windows all the time.

That looks OK but can you take a screenshot of the pages that you see.I saw most everything is as it should be. We need to se voltage.If you can D/L motherboard Monitor and post a screenshot of that. What we are doing is a process of elimination.

i reinstalled the drivers and im having the same problem. i think the card could be going bad (had it since october) so im gonna have to save some money and buy a new one

some of my drivers might be out of date, but i can't find any updates, and I don't even know what to update. . .the micro-star international ms-6577 motherboard is terrible, and i don't even know if there are new drivers for it, and my bios is like 2 years oldmy AGP stats are worth taking a look at, might not be from my graphics card but from my integreated graphics card (even though its disabled):Revision-2.0Aperture Size- 64 MBData Transfer Rate- 4xSide Band Addressing- enabled64mb and 4x don't seem right, but i don't know what any of the stats mean

Hmmmmm.What is the default voltage for a P4?You are at 1.44 volts. The other thing is Why are you at AGP 4x. The 9600 is a 8x agp if I am not mistaken.
