July 26, 200421 yr Well I like my new system I built for around $1000 but if my wife gets her new job I am going to build a NEW DREAM MACHINE! July 26, 200421 yr Replace Marshal with Sock and we have a deal!!I'm ACTUALLY making my own computer too, State :mrgreen::mrgreen: etc.AMD Athlon XP 2400+80GB WD HDATI RADEON 9200256MB Ultra DDR RAMCD Burner (52x24x52)Asus A7N8X-E DeluxePowmax Black and Silver ATX Mid Tower.Floppy Drive;) I just want my own computer, can't stand everyone else downloading so many viruses, not running tests, so I will keep my new one in tact. I'll also upgrade it when I have more money, this will cost $650 or so shipped.
July 26, 200421 yr drop that graphics card manif you got lots of cash, just get like 2.9ghz instead of the 64bit and get a radeon 9800pro or radeon X800
July 26, 200421 yr Jesus, Statecop, your new system will kick all buts. Your system will be better and faster than my own current high end system. Which motherboard and soundcard do you want ? PCI Express is the best choice. Your decision to buy a nvidia card, is very good. I have some problems with my ati 9800 xt and will switch soon back to nvidia. The rams you mentioned are very fast, but available ? And you have to find a motherboard which matches this kind of rams. HL2, BF2 and Doom3 will surely look like the living hell on your system. Jesus, when i write that, i wanna also buy a new system....
July 26, 200421 yr drop that graphics card man if you got lots of cash, just get like 2.9ghz instead of the 64bit and get a radeon 9800pro or radeon X800 That wouldn't be any better than what he has now.
July 26, 200421 yr Author Sock if I were you I wouldnt stop at 256MB of ram even if I had to get a cheaper brand. XP runs sluggish to say the least until you get to about 512MB. For gaming you need atleast 512.Also look at your HD specs for one with an 8MB cache rather than the standard 2MB. Most of the time they are the same price or with in $2-$3.
July 26, 200421 yr Author Yes I am going to do dual raptors in Raid 0.I am not sure about the MOBO with PCI Express yet because they are still coming out. I am going to look at the MSI boards first though. I have been really pleased with every MSI product I own. As far as sound depending on the MOBO I will either get the onboard Sound Storm (nvidia) or the Creative Audigy if they have a PCI E out when I do this.
July 26, 200421 yr Dual raptors = good choiceMSI = good choiceCreative audigy = good choiceonboard sound = bad choice lol

Athlon XP 64 4000+??? i thought my P4 3 gig was fast.... but damn they must use those at NASA with their supercomputers
July 26, 200421 yr Im still with pretty much the same computer, with which i started playing FA few years ago. I only changed G-Card. Any one wants to sponsor?
July 26, 200421 yr state not too long ago i had an article o nmy site about an even better HD. WD released a 15k SATA... Its sick
July 26, 200421 yr oh and statie, disregard taking a 2.9 over the 64 bit and xt800 over the nvidia, you were right to begin with
July 26, 200421 yr Author Kywalker...one word...hehehe Capitalism...heheheheArnie I have seen some really good stuff out of the SoundStorm audio by Nvida. In a tomshardware article they showed it out peformed some of the Audigy cards marginally. Before that I wouldnt have even considered an onboard and that is the only onboard I would look at. I had rather have the audigy but I am having problems getting my audigy to work with my current onboard. I cant get it disabled for some reason. So the computer doesnt start with my audigy in.
July 26, 200421 yr hm, didnt know that about soundstorm. I must read that article. Scary, that you cant disable onboard and get the audigy working. I had/have asus boards, it never was/is a problem.
